Name: Tamerlane "Tam" Martino

Age: 26

Race: Human

Appearance: The Knifethrower. Though usually, Tam Martino can be found clad in a jumpsuit and a second-hand bomber jacket.

Personality: Chiefly, he can be called 'phlematic'. Tam had taken the splitting up of his gang with remarkable passivity. Most days, Tam is a man's man; keeps to himself, stands his round, keeps tabs on his friends.

Though he seems to be keeping his ear out for a particular hellish purr of a particular engine. When he thinks he hears it, Tam tends to freeze up.

Equipment:

  • A room in a none-too-legal layover not too far from a coastal trade hub in the Bite. Pretty close to a hangar as well.
  • That room has a few days change in clothes, a jar for rainy days, and even furniture.
  • A mostly-intact and well-used tool box.
  • A throwing knife, a cosh, a broken revolver that still looks like a revolver, and a half-used make-up kit.

Skills: First and foremost, it has to be said that big Tam had flown as the muscle in his crew. If he'd been part of an official outfit, he'd certainly be an ace. Anything else involving a plane, from navigation, on-the-spot mechanical appraisal, etc, he's a passable sort.

If anything, the most unique skill he possesses is his background in clowning. That's right, the Martino Clan were renowned clowns and barnstormers all along the Bite.

Anything involving clowning, from make-up, tumbling from great heights to juggling to even taking pratfalls, Tam can do it. It has come in handy for second story work and even lent itself to impressive hand-to-hand and thrown weapon skills.

He also has a bit of acting, though it's limited to being 'big scary psycho'.

Background: In this world, it isn't a big thing to say that one grew up around airplanes. Whatever you did, you normally did it in the air. Tam had grown up a performer, walking tightropes from bird to bird, telling stories, and just wowing the crowds.

What made him unique was that he did all this living in the Bite, a wild region in the south seas made of murky swamps and a circuit of brute peaks arranged like the teeth of some primordial god, a land with a lyrical mongrel drawl prevalent among the locals and a penchant for wild criminality and high faith.

He and his bunch, Cap'n Hash's Players, made their living as airmen were wont to, protection work, light piracy, even throwing the odd show every now and again if the mood was on 'em.

Then the wind turned south one day. An outfit from outta nowhere, sharply-turned-out and in emerald green birds found them and hunted them down. Then found them in their other hideout and burned them from that too.

They got the message. And as Cap'n Hash and a few others fought one more glorious fight, Tam and a few others turned tail and ran for the for corners. And looking for work is where we find our hero, keeping his eyes peeled and wondering about his former friends.

And payback not too far from his mind.

Aircraft: Favors the quad-winged Devastator MkII. Rugged but somewhat dated, the single-seating Devastator boasts a quartet of paired .40 caliber machine guns along with eight weapon hard points. Not as fast as most fighters with a top speed of 270 mph, the plane makes up for it in toughness and versatility, along with a landing hook to make it capable of landing on airships.

What makes his bird unique is its general shabby appearance. The colorful paint of his previous crew is all but fading away, though the stylized yellow jester cap-and-mask is still legible. Underneath the insignia, in beautiful flowing script, is the word 'Shrike'.
