Funny you say that, a friend of mine kinda had an idea like that for Spider-Man forming his own team (this was before USM came out).

Then clearly, they should make whole show adaptation of Spider Island so villains can be spiders too. Or at least remove Green Goblin completely. Iron Patriot will sell better.

Some people would say the same about Anya and to lesser extent Miles.

I only said that because honestly what can you get out of Peter hanging out with Prowler? :p

More then can you get by having with hang bunch of Spider-People.

I don't buy that because Prowler doesn't have any fanbase. Hell him being Miles' uncle is a better use of the character.

Looking at his wiki page, Hobie Brown could have been an interesting character if they decided to put him in the same school. He makes a good foil for Peter.

I do. Also I am pretty sure nobody cared about White Tiger or the new Nova, and that didn't stop them.

I wouldn't jump the gun and assume that all of these characters will 100% appear yet from this promo art. USM had a lot of merchandise and ads that had nothing to do with the show, and featured characters that never showed up like Black Cat.

Prowler is one of those characters who doesn't have a huge fanbase or a big presence yet still has a habit of popping up everywhere. Probably because he's the only black secondary heroes/villain in the Spider-Man mythos with any real prominence, and one of the few black supporting characters he has in general.

Should I bring up the Rocket Racer, or is it better to just let that go?

I legitimately forgot that it was Rocket Racer, and not Prowler, who was in the MTV Spidey show.

Outside of that, though, did Racer get a lot of use past the 90's? From what I know of him, character wise he essentially hits the same beats as Prowler.

The only other black costumed characters I can think of are Vermin (who spends most of his time as a humanoid rat), Tombstone, and Hypno Hustler (who needs to appear more).

After Guardians of the Galaxy, I'm pretty sure that "Nobody cares about this character" has been completely thrown out as a point against someone appearing.

Only bad thing I could say about this show is that (in my opinion) why does he need to form a team of spiders? That, and as much as I'm ok with him being in teams, I think Spider-Man working solo would work. That, and the near lack of info on it. All we got is that he's a noob and that's about it.

On the level of nobody giving a shit about Prowler? No. Certainly not the latter.

Both were characters being heavily pushed by Marvel at the time, giving them reason to use them. If the choice was between Prowler and a more marketable Spider-character then there's really no reason not to use them over him.

A team of spider people is really is weird for a rookie Peter Parker to have. Why not just have everyone get their powers at the same time then?

Some what? Hate? There are people who also hate Spider-Gwen for being more prominent than Anya as well as allegedly being designed to appeal to feminist SJWs. Every character is gonna have someone who hates them for stupid reasons.

They also hate her for "getting in MJ's way" and for simply having powers. That and the brief thing with Miles.
