Chill, I was just about to post. I was just expecting two episodes instead of one.

This time I watched "Riding Out The Storm", episode that in theory had potential for something good, but in practice it just found new exciting ways to fail.

For starters, this is episode where Ben turned into fusions of his aliens. And they did nothing with it. First Ben turned into Grey Arms (I linked pictures earlier) he was shot once by villain before even doing anything and he retreated. Other time he turned into Super-alien-combo thing and all he did was fly only worse then Stinkfly. There is one short moment where he used Diamondhead's arm to reflect blast but that's it. Those mis-transformations barely affected plot either.

Villains were Weatherheads large very logical robots with weather control powers. Sounds interesting for this show, but they weren't that good. Particularly they had this running theme of trying to stay calm and logical only to laugh, argue and repeat over and over stuff like "I would be angry now if I felt emotions, which I don't!". It got tiresome quick.

Actually, their goal was unclear. They were building some kind of weather tower, mentioned something about Council (possible indication that they were first aliens in show?) and at the end Ben wondered if there is "bigger storm coming". So....yeah, it's possible that we're getting an Arc Villains just like in other Ben 10 shows.

Oh. Guess there IS a chance the show might get better after all. I don't hold my breath though.

This seems to now be going the way of Steven Universe, only without the potential of being something worthwhile.

How did they explain Ben turning into fusions of his aliens anyway?

Ben complained that he was timing out too soon and he used pocketknife on it, trying to fix it. Not sure if it was broken before, but at this point it definitely was and Grandpa judged that it entered reboot mode and Ben shouldn't use it until it finishes.

[up]... Wow, they recycled the Script from Dr Animo and the Mutant Ray even more than I thought.

At least this episode proves that you shouldn't mess with reboots until you're sure everything is working.

Ok, double post, but: Clocktopus. Another rehashed premise as Ben deals with his fears, this time with fear of squids. Aaand...This might be the best episode so far. Not that this is saying much, mind you.

First, villain is decent. Steam Smythe is first well put together baddie in show, who is obsessed with past to point of using steampunk tech that he considers superior in order to stop creation on new mall in place of "Squid City". Distinctive way of talking, characteristic visuals and original gimmick.

Second, not only there were few good jokes, but there was actually one kinda clever joke as Smythe praises creations of past such as Titanic or Hindenburg.

Lastly, theme is well put together. See, Ben fears squids due to accident year ago (that involved Cash and JT btw) and he's stuck in past like Smythe. And Max, who was originally also against new mall, finally embraces the change as he spends episode encouraging Ben to let go of the past.

So, good. In comparison to other stuff.

... Good thing Ben isn't a girl, or I'd have to resist the temptation of making a tentacle hentai joke.

Anyway, yeah, that does sound better than previous stuff. The villain especially sounds like a character I would actually be okay with seeing become a recurring baddie.

Jesus christ, what was the point of this series if they were going to practically recycle all the old episodes? Just rerun original series episodes and be done with it.

Wouldn't they have spent money for advertising, designs, writers, and all that stuff in the first place?

New show = New designs = New toys.

So CN makes a new Ben 10 in order to appeal to a new audience and sell more toys and they aren't airing it? Why? tongue

Ironically, I think that Ben 10 (2016) will air in 2017 in US. Anyhow, guess who survived 3 new episodes of this show.

"Growing Pains" - You know I just now figured that sleepwalking episode was another rehash. I'm slipping. Anyway: In this one, Ben and Gwen are turned into chibis little kids. Great. Also villain was really bad.

"Shhh!" Ben ends up in temple where there is dragon who's kept asleep by everyone being silent...and crystals. Wait a sec. I see, copying old show wasn't good enough for you, now you taking story from Be Cool Scooby Doo!

To set up lesson, one episode has Ben and Gwen act childishly and other make them very noisy, so you can imagine they're kinda annoying. So let's just move on and go to interesting part:

"Brief Career of Lucky Girl" - Lucky Girl looks generic, first point. No sash or swirls, just plain back costume, plain back mask kinda shaped like original and cape. In this version Lucky Girl is tv character that Gwen is cosplaying as. And she also doesn't have any powers. Instead when Hex is looking for Merlin's Wand, she's pretending to have it and fakes spells. For example, Hex is defeated when Gwen uses few cosplayers to pretend she summoned zombie army. That's it.

Also, good lord why is this show spamming Four Arms so much!

Great, because it wasn't stupid enough already when Ultimate Spider-Man did it.

Wow, another episode they recycled in a lesser version. Man of Action really lost their touch, haven't they?

Well, in their defense, so did the Original Show. I mean, he WAS Ben's original favourite.

Wasn't Four-Arms kind of The All-Solving Hammer in the original?

On defense of Lucky Girl, it's less recycling but more like adapting elements . No one calls Spider-man's villains forming Sinister Six plot recycling.

As for 4arms, yeah that's how it worked and I didn't liked it back then either. I think we have trope to that.

Fair enough.

Neither did I, but it IS faithful to the Original Series fans worship so much. And for the trope, that would be Spotlight-Stealing Squad, maybe?

I was thinking about Franchise Original Sin, actually.

So, this is third time Ben got de-aged. And we've seen that trope in in many cartoons like already mentioned Ultimate. My question is was it ever good? I can only remember that Justice League episode.

Oh, you meant that trope. Yeah, most definitely a case of this.

So, this is third time Ben got de-aged.

Oh, right, I almost forgot he had alredy been de-aged in the Original Series^^' To be fair, in Omniverse, this was pretty much an excuse to have more time with Tara Strong voicing him...

And we've seen that trope in in many cartoons like already mentioned Ultimate. My question is was it ever good? I can only remember that Justice League episode.

Funny you'd mention that. I distinctly remember Newt mentioning how this gimmick rarely ever works in one of his Avengers Assemble reviews a few days ago.
