The Great Ordeal, the third book in the second series (the sixth book overall) is out worldwide today! Any TV Tropes fans?!

I've got a long way to go, only on the second book. I intend to get there pretty soon though.

I don't know why I'm reading and will continue to do so, it's very bleak, and from spoilers later on, it embraces the Cosmic Horror Story tone to the fullest. This is going to break my heart, I know it.

:D

You're only at the beginning. If you'd think to link that particular trope then you're likely to find some satiation in sheer awe.

Meanwhile I'm sitting over here waiting for more news on a screen adaptation that Bakker has mentioned having "options" for but has otherwise gone unmentioned

I need to see the Gnosis in action

And also I need to see the flashbacks to the first Apocalypse

And also I need to see a skin-spy's face come off

And also I need to see a visual interpretation of the Mark

And also I need to see who is cast for literally every character

Basically I need this series to be adapted to the screen

I need it

Lol, I'm with you.

Yeah, apparently it was optioned so someone currently holds the rights... I wonder what's up with that.

Lmao, you're in for a trip. Best way to read The Aspect-Emperor is one after an [other], no doubt.

tbh I feel like most contiguous series are like that, but it's hard to read them one after the other when you go 5 years between releases. :p

I've already read the first five books, but I'm rereading them all. Initially I was rereading them all in anticipation of TGO, but I guess that motivation is a little outdated now, so I'm rereading the first five and reading TGO in anticipation of... reading TUC? Kind of hard to "anticipate" something that you were just too much of a procrastinator to be ready for in the first place.

Ah, well.

I mentioned to a friend that it's super weird—I just finished TJE, and I was remembering most of it as I read, but the moment I finished it I realized I remembered almost nothing about TWLW. Like, I remembered that Soma is a skin-spy and the final scene where Akka and Mimara crest the hill alone and see Ishual, and that's it. And now I'm like 100 pages or so into it and I do not feel like I'm retreading something I have read, even though I definitely am.

I vaguely recalled the conversation between Kellhus and Proyas where Kellhus reveals that he's going to ban Cants of Calling and break the Ordeal into foraging columns, but like... not really. It just felt vaguely familiar.

But that's all positive, really—it'll make reading the book feel like a new experience. [tup]

...And then I have two more after that! :D

Just finished reading The Unholy Consult.

Wow, that was epic. I can't wait to see where the story goes from here.

Guilty! Guilty! My evil self is at the door, and I have no power to stop it!
