Okay, folks. Settle down. I'm going to make a semi-official (in that it's as official as it can be without coming from the site's owners) statement and then close the thread, because there's no productive place for the conversation to go.
- The content of this wiki is licensed in such a way
that it may be copied and reused as long as:
- TV Tropes is credited for any such content.
- No commercial use is made of the content.
- The content is licensed under a similar or more restrictive license than ours.
- Our staff have been aware of the AllTheTropes site since its creation. There are other "fork" sites of TV Tropes as well.
- Our admins have been in contact with the owners of those sites to ensure that no violations of copyright or licensing are occurring. We can and have issued takedown requests if our license was not respected.
- We expect the owners of those sites to be proactive about ensuring that any direct plagiarism is handled appropriately if it is reported to them in good faith. We will do the same in return.
The handling of any legal issues is up to the administrators. The disagreements that led to the creation of the fork sites are well known to the parties involved and not something we're going to air out in public for the umpteenth time. It's not for our users (or theirs) to conduct crusades on our behalf and we do not appreciate people attempting to do so.
Further, we will take immediate and harsh action against any TV Tropes user who vandalizes or otherwise attacks any other site, just as we would expect them to do if their users attacked us.
