I don't really see how Komaeda needs brainwashing to get on her side. He was already hoping she'd become an absolute despair.

And, I mean, he wasn't exactly acting brainwashed in DR:AE.

I'm not sure how brainwashed Mikan is supposed to be when it's Junko who mentions she isn't skilled at brainwashing like Mitarai is and needs him to make it work on the majority. Maybe she's just that Weak-Willed.

I think the implication was that Junko just used some good ol' fashioned manipulation, since Mikan came ready-made with a bag full of trauma.

She used the killing video and some of Ryouta's techniques that she picked up. He showed them to her after all and she used her analytical skills. She just was not able to use it as well as he could and it resulted in Mikan becoming deranged. Mikan was also already fairly weak willed and she implied the video would not cause the same results in the vast majority of people.

Yeah, even if the whole class do all end up subject to brainwashing there's clearly More than Mind Control at play. I think for Mikan having someone with such a strong personality pay attention to her was just as important as the video.

THE FUTURE 8:

Ah, it seems Aoi does know of her brother's fate...

Kyosuke Munakata, Swordmaster of    HOPE    vs. Mecha Gekkou. The winner of the ensuing carnage is obvious.

Welp, Ruruka truly was that far gone. At the end of the day, she truly trusted no one but herself.

Kyoko avoided a one-way trip to the pits, thanks to Kizakura. Even if it meant his end, Kizakura wasn't gonna let Jin down! ...Will his sacrifice be in vain, though?

THE DESPAIR 8:

Yep, Mikan was the first to be seduced by Junko's despairing wiles. And poor Ryouta, being forced to help Junko on account of a vicious blackmail.

Yasuke Matsuda sighted!

Peko + rain = more badass points.

Nagito, the two-faced hero. All is for (his brand of) Hope.

Nagito and Izuru's "clash" showed how much love Lady Luck has for the both of them.

It's gonna be interesting to hear what Chiaki has to say about Izuru.

I don't think Chiaki won't be able to say anything since she'll get a bullet in the heart or a bullet in the head. It's either that, or she is the 13th head of the Future Foundation, or the mastermind.

Ha ha ha. What a story, Mark.

Why can't she be both?

And also working with Despair Chisa. She even has a monkuma puzzle piece on her face along with everything else at the front in those pics.

I love that Komaeda didn't recognize Saionji when he got back.

Pekoyama vs Mukuro and Luck vs Luck were cool too.

EDIT: Woah, almost missed the after-credits scene

That's like predicting Juzo will beat someone up.

Also, Juzo's totally going to beat someone up this episode.

Well, that was a very intense episode.

Sakakura getting shanked by Munakata wasn't too surprising given how much he's degenerated, but Kirigiri's Forbidden Action is incredibly unfair. Speaking of gut punches, seeing Andou murder Izayoi like that really sucked. The guy was flat as a door but I still liked him enough to hate how his girlfriend iced him. Thankfully Andou's out of the game as well.

Alright, got that out of my system. And now that I think about it I seriously doubt Kodaka has the balls to actually go through with this. I mean, I know I'm probably in denial up to my eyebrows right now, but if he didn't have the guts to kill off Hina, there's a very real possibility that he might blink at this.

I think Kirigiri's is legit, but I'm less sure on Sakakura. The dude survived a missile barrage to the face somehow, I'm not immediately gonna believe that a lightsaber shanking offed him.

Gozu's NG action though. [lol]

Did anyone notice how messed up Ruruka's body was? Claw marks all over her, clothes ripped as if she was grabbed and thrown around, and her mouth is stuffed full with candy. This level of brutality would only make sense from a (very angry) wild animal or someone with a huge vendetta. There's definitely something to be revealed about the attacker, besides just their identity.

So here's a thing I noticed: The survivor count at the beginning said 9, but there were eight people alive in the building. That's nothing new, though- it's been one higher than the apparent count all along. I've been assuming that Hagakure was the extra person, since he was on the island and presumably (I thought) was going to meet up with the others soon.

But now? That's seeming less likely. With the reveal of where the playing is, and Togami joining Hagakure without being added to the survivor count, it seems a lot weirder for Hagakure to have been counted. He's not really part of the game, after all.

Which leads to believe we're mistaken about how many people are still alive. And since the count's been off all along, there's only one person who could be faking- the person who 'died' before the first time we saw the survivor count. Which, is you recall, was a death a lot of people were suspicious of in the first place.

I think Ryouta is responsible for something, but I don't know if he's the mastermind. If the mastermind and the attacker are separate people, I'm assuming he's one of them.

He said he wanted to save the world with anime and he's been harping on about his feelings towards Makoto for a while now. "I wish I was more like Makoto." "Why are we going to see him? I don't think he can do anything now." Not to mention the fist clench when Kyouko said that she believed in him.

The game being so privatized is also very strange. Like it's a personal matter for the mastermind. If it's Ryouta, it could just be resulting insecurity over Makoto being seen as a hero for beating Junko while he was unable to do anything to save his own class?

Ryouta's FA is also the only one we haven't gotten a hint for, I think. Unless it's tied to his phone somehow.
