Wasn't that rant a deliberate statement by the makers of the film in question, as a way of making sure they'd avoid the dreaded kiddie friendly rating?
I'd love to make acclaimed animated "family pictures" that are as traumatic to children as a PG rating will allow.

Peace is the only battle worth waging.Saw 2 out of 3 of em. Paranorman is the only one left for me to check out.
Here's Doug Walker's latest video, which goes into the oddities behind the G rating:
He sounds even more frustrated than usual.

Just noticed the vessel link, but me not have vessel, and I thought it would be worth an embed for those others that don't either.

To be fair, the concept of putting "adult" content in otherwise family-friendly material isnt a new thing. The 80s alone had films like Goonies, Monster Squad, Adventures in Babysitting, Howard the Duck, Cloak and Dagger, and Transformers: The Movie, all of which would be G if not for the more "adult" scenes.
Someone on another board pointed out that without the cluster-f-bomb, Planes, Trains, and Automobiles would be PG-13 or even PG.
