When I first watched Age of Ultron, I hated it so much that my opinion on the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe had soured. Now that I cooled down, I acknowledge that all things considered, it was a pretty good movie, but there's no denying that it is not as good as the first one.

Ultron was a decent movie, but man oh man, it happened to be in the same Summer when Mad Max Fury Road came out, and just kick all sorts of ass. Ultron didn't have a chance against that perfection. I sincerally think Fury Road will take a spot among the pantheons of Action.

Civil War. I don't think it necessarly beats Captain America, the Winter Solider, but it is one of my top 5 MCU movies.

Also it made the Civil War storyline redeemable.

Watched the The Force Awakens video.

I like how this guy is giving some nice analytical stuff instead of just straight-up gushing (though he does that too).

The Phantom Menace.

Kudos to him for finding practical effects in the movie and for keeping a limit to the mentions of the Red Letter Media thing.

I only saw his Cinema Wins on Batman V Superman. It was fine for the most part, but I was really annoyed how he was acting as if everybody who criticized the Martha scene was "not getting it". It's pretty annoying to act as if people are in the wrong just for having an opinion.

I enjoy both Sins and Wins. It's all about mindset. Sins is absurdly negative for the purpose of comedy, while Wins is absurdly positive for the purpose of comedy. Just like how you have to expect Sins to accentuate the negative, you have to expect Wins to defend the indefensible. It's just how they do.

And just like with Sins, there are points where their efforts just don't work. Sorry, Wins Guy, but the Martha scene is still stupid.

Attack of the Clones

Nice try, but Attack of the Clones still sucks. Only prequel movie anyone needs to rewatch is Revenge of the Sith.

TBH, yeah, and not because it's the only not awful one.

It's the only one you need to watch if you still want to get the story of the prequels, because everything from the previous movies is explained and summarized pretty well in that movie.

I enjoy AOTC and ROTS. TPM is the only one I view as being kinda weak.

As the video observes AOTC is split into two plotlines, the Naboo love story and Obi-Wan's investigation. The naboo love story is pretty hokey and subpar but Obi-Wan's investigation is fantastic for me.

I'm also a big fan of the subplot of Palpatine subverting the Republic's democracy. I don't think enough credit is given to Lucas's decision to have the story center on the subversion of a democracy into tyranny rather than the more standard conquest of democracy by a tyranny.

nothing really anything to do with the videos, but it led me to this thread. It does give me a little bit of apprechiation for the prequels...just a little.

Ewan McGregor's Obi-Wan really is the saving grace of the prequels. You can generally judge the quality of any given scene by this simple metric: is Obi-Wan onscreen? If yes, it's great! If no, it's garbage.

The most bitter irony of the prequels is that they contain a character who, in my opinion, is the most interesting and entertaining character in the entire franchise. But in order to experience this character, you have to slog through the garbage that is the prequels.

I mean, there are a few other good parts. Palpatine's a thrill. But Obi-Wan is really what carries them.

[up]All of this yes.

McGregor's Obi-Wan is one of the best parts of Star Wars period, let alone the prequels.

Hell, he's easily something about the prequels that far exceeds the originals, because the original Obi-Wan was just kinda..... whatever.

That being said, he's probably the only unironically good character in them.

ROTS > TPM > AOTC

ROTS has a ton of issues but is overall a passable movie. Not great, but definitely the best prequel movie.

TPM has the most confusing story note  with the most bullshit, but it had good enough window dressings to trick you into thinking it was actually a good movie. It's not (like at all), but you can still enjoy it easily despite having stuff like Jar Jar.

AOTC is boring as hell at its best and has one of the most infamous Romantic Plot Tumors ever. What else is there to say?

That sums it up pretty well.

TPM is many things, but boring it is not. AOTC is boring af and has one of the most poorly executed romances in cinema history to date.

Here is Revenge of the Sith. The only Prequel movie you need to see and the most well made. Honestly though, this movie is better than Return of the Jedi. unpopular opinion.

I actually find ROTS my favorite out of all seven SW films. I guess it's the relentless tragedy of it all.

Suicide Squad: probably the most love it and hate it comic book movie in recent years.

Personally, i think it is ok. It is certainly better than 3 most hated MCU films like Bore: The Dark World, Unwatchable Hulk, and Iron Man 2. No way it is touching Guardians of the Galaxy or The Avengers though. Suicide Squad is offbrand Guardians of the Galaxy.

Suicide Squad is a movie that is far more deserving of a "worst movie ever made" label than anything released in the mainstream probably this decade.

It's fantastically incompetent in every regard.

For one, the editing is atrocious. Most shots of the movie last about 3 to 5 seconds, which means the movie jumpcuts between angles at a breakneck pace and it ends up ruining the film's visual aesthetic, becoming a nearly epileptic experience. The script violates a basic tenant of writing (Show, Don't Tell) almost once per scene ("Lady, YOU ARE EVIL!" "This is Slipknot, the man who can untie any knot", "This is Katana, her sword traps the souls of her enemies"), the movie's central character arc makes no sense because Suicide Squad has literally no scenes of the teammates bonding or developing any relationship until abruptly they're all True Companions by the bar scene.

The story also violates basic character logic occasionally due the script's tendency to inform us everything rather than show. Deadshot's redemption quest falls flat because we never really see him being all that evil and Will Smith plays him as too likable, Amanda Waller despite being built up as the master of chess is actually comically incompetent, half of the Squad gets no arc whatsoever and even fewer lines.

The action, which could have been its redeeming grace, never really goes anywhere because of the decision to use generic mooks in even more generic looking enviroments. There's also a problem of logic with characters using knives and baseball bats to defeat cretures which previously were shown shrugging off rifle fire.

And the movie romanticizes an abusive relationship.

I don't think it's the worst movie of all time, however, but I do think it's probably the worst, or at least the most incompetently-made, of the last decade.

Yeah, it's a jumbled mess left to right. There ae worse movies of course, but Suicide Squad is rather notable because it makes the mistakes that even those blocbusters avoid in addition to the obvious ones.

" Sorry, Wins Guy, but the Martha scene is still stupid."

For me the martha scene is a good example of troper are not good since it relies A LOT in hindsight while the movie dosent let you do that in how fast it move, it made sense...but the movie dosent let you to reach that.

About the prequels: I always said the prequel is good in concept but not that in execution for a number of reason we all know.

And about Suicide Squad...the movie is a mess and it made thing that even newbie dosent(Katana scene is rage inducing in how many basic rules it breaks) but there is some point I will defend: I dont see Deadshot having a redemption quest more that learning he can do something good, after all is ilusion is him killing Batman, while Waller is a victim of her on brutality, something common with her character.

And about Harley....maybe is just me but I never liked her that much in the animated series and im intrigued with the idea of the Joker actually feeling something(whatever twisted it is) for her, instead of Harley being an annoying fangirl while he is too Busy obsessing about Batman.
