How do these ideas sound from a storytelling perspective?

Just had to ask and i might be coming back with more ideas that need considering

1. A flock of doves being enemies with a flock of ravens

2. A lion just coming right out and saying that hyenas are "a pestilence and a plague"

3. A group of mythical creatures that behave like pirates or vikings (as in they plunder and pillage just about anyone and mostly do it for either profit or thrills)

4. A community of flying mythical creatures that have a council controlled government.

5. A Wolf who considers being called a dog a form of insult or racial slur

Any thoughts?

What you have here are a bunch of concepts with a contrasting element that isn't enough to carry a story. I totally understand the feeling- I used to come up with ideas for characters like your second and fifth, but I could never even start writing about them because my character didn't have a plot. I can't sit down and write some fluff about a character unless I know exactly what my words are contributing to.

Now, that doesn't mean that these ideas have no merit and need to be thrown out. There's just not enough to them to carry a story on their own. I'm going to be asking a lot of questions, all of which are going to be rhetorical. They're more to help guide you in developing your ideas, rather than things that I'm actually curious about knowing myself.

The dove-raven conflict actually has a bit more to it than the others, in that it has a definite plot element. That doesn't mean a story featuring this conflict is going to automatically be better than a story with any of the other ideas, it just means you have a little bit less work to do. What you have here doesn't tell us why the two groups are enemies, for instance, or what they're fighting about, or what's at stake when one loses. In a lot of stories that feature a conflict between groups, the conflict itself is rarely the star of the story. The star of the story is more likely to be someone whose life has been affected by the conflict because it's easier to empathize with a few particular people who you get to know well than just a side. I also get the sense that this dove-raven conflict could also be ideological in nature, since doves are pretty much universally associated with peace, and raves are often associated with trickery at best and death at worst.

The lion and wolf ideas are on the opposite end of the spectrum from the dove-raven conflict. They're not really even character concepts, they just seem like little bits pulled from a bigger story, except these bits have so little meaning on their own that they could come from a huge variety of stories. They both hint towards speciesism among animals, and if I was being really literal, I could take that to mean that the two ideas came from an allegorical story that uses animals to talk about racism topics. But that same speciesism could also just be one facet of an animal society, a society depicted in a story that focuses on some other aspect of that society. When I read the lion and wolf ideas, I think 'okay, so what?' The remark about hyenas and the dislike of being called a dog don't even really contrast with the lion and wolf expressing them, they're just... remarks. If you want, you could try building on these ideas by asking yourself what made the lion claim that hyenas are like that, and asking yourself what sort of situation the wolf is in that resulted in them being called a dog.

That leaves the plunderers and the council-governed creatures- these are worldbuilding concepts in search of plots that would give them things to do and characters for the reader to empathize with. As it stands now, they're really just a group of plunderers and a government with some mythical window-dressing. And in fact, I see an opportunity. Real-world pirates mostly just did their thing out of greed. One thing you could try is combining these ideas- you have a group of pirates that may have plundered these flying creatures or an ally of the flying creatures, and the council-government is after them for their crimes.

Now, if you got through all of that, I have to give a word of caution. Ideas are cheap. I'm sure you've heard it before, but I didn't really understand what it meant until I started actually writing myself. Coming up with cool ideas is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to writing. Actually executing those ideas and getting them to come across the way you want to other readers is way harder than it looks, and is an ongoing battle that every writer, no matter their skill level, has to fight with whenever they write.

They all sound like decent writing exercizes, though. Try writing a scene based on each of them. Who knows, one of them might into something. Good luck.

To me they all sound like the beginnings of an animal people story worldbuilding. I think those, and many, many more like it would make for a great setting for a fantasy adventure.

You still need a plot, of course. Each of those details implies a plot too short or narratively simple to be the main story plot. But this is how you make a world feel alive. A world of a thousand stories, most of them only hinted at. Every character has a story. Every item has a story. Events are happening all over the place, most of them unseen by the camera of the author's writing. Some stories take a long time, like an epic war, others a random insult in the street, over in a moment. They don't have to me detailed, and the majority should never make it onto paper, but they complete the world.

You will still need a plot, though. A good one with some fair length to it. Filled with twists and discoveries and places to visit.
