"Well, it's the only way I've ever fought, so I guess I wouldn't know," Violet said. "But thanks!"

She listened to Yayoi explain about the bookshelves. "Wow, really? That's great! And even if we couldn't connect to Earth, I have some friends that live extradimensionally that I could try and get in touch with, if we could get out of here." She nodded. "Yeah... How many books would you need, for it to work? And would textbooks be fine, or..."

"Any bookshelf would work and any books as well, as long as there are three full rows. I just have to move them around in a specific order to activate the Book Door Code. From there, I can take us anywhere else, as long as there is a bookshelf there too. Different dimensions wouldn't be a problem either. My friends and I usually do it to go to our secret base, which is definitely not on Earth either. Although if we were to go to one of our friends, you would have to tell me enough for me able to concentrate on where we wouid be going or we will get lost," Yayoi explained, "We probably should gather the others that are in the same situation as us before we attempt it though. How many have you met? And anyway, shouldn't we start heading for class? We definitely don't wanna be late in a place like this and we still have no idea of where the gym is..."

"Yep, first year," Danielle commented. "Got to admit, a lot of fearsome students around here, but I'm not quite sure we can take over a whole dimension, much less the multiverse."

"Well, the multiverse is infinite, so we'll never get it all," Stacy responded, "but we had some good success last year. We took over half a dozen dimensions, and got footholds on several others. And from what I've heard, this year's class of freshmen set records in terms of numbers and raw power. We could really go gangbusters this year."

At that moment, the bell rang. "Welp, time to go off to the gym. I'll see you folks there!" Stacy departed with a cheery wave. Danielle stood up pushed her chair in, heading out the door as well. Looks like it's time for us to head into the lion's den. God help us all.

"Three full rows... Well, we'll figure something out," Violet said. "And yeah, you're right. Let's head back to the others, maybe they'll have figured it out." She started walking back towards the kitchen, looking around for the others, or anyone who looked like they knew where they were heading,

"TBH anything that we do won't be much given what we're dealing with already back home." Elvyra stood up from her chair. "It's weird, in like '97 we had people living on the moon and by '08 folks were beginning to settle mars but as soon as the fascists got on the mic it's like every brain cell in the US melted. Any supposed invasion won't be much different." She shrugged. "At least in my case, they're definitely giving me something to think about."

First of all the blond teenager made sure to listen to the others as best he could so as to pick up on anything - it sounded like Yayoi and Elvyra came from somewhat futuristic world, and the others...well, there might be some familiar elements, but not many.

Cale, as soon as the bell tolled and let them know it was time to venture forth into this danger zone. started to get up and follow after Stacy. He knew she would most likely know where the gym was.

And if not, he could at once try and find it himself, though there would probably be a limited amount of success in that regard.

And, so as to make this a little less awkward, he decided to strike up conversation with her, "Hey, Stacy, would you mind if we chatted a little on the way to class?"

The others are pretty strange, and while that girl with the eyes seems to see everything in political / economic ideologies, I have to say I'm pretty confident in them.

He looked around as he walked, wondering what sort of place this was outside the cafeteria and main hallways. It seemed to him a very accommodating place, and considering the common villainous team up weakness, perhaps it was encouraging some element of camaraderie so as to circumvent such an occurrence.

Eating meals together, forming friendships, learning the "trade" together...yeah. This could be actually pretty damn dangerous.

Stacy smiled at Cale. "Sure thing, pal. I'm only a second year, but I still know my way around here. Anything you need to know, I'm happy to tell you." She had to admit, the boy was interesting. Her parents had warned her from experience that falling for someone was a one-way ticket to a supermax cell, but still, she could tell that there was something there. She hoped it would end better for her than it did for them, though.

"Yeah, hi, name's Ingress by the way, and I got a question, actually, is there an outside to this place?" Elvyra remained behind them but maintained eye contact using her eldritch portals. She also did this to surreptitiously look back over her shoulder and check for surprises, and to make sure all her clothes were nice and smoothed out. "Windows, maybe? I kicked down a door, but are the walls that fragile too?"

Just as she and Violet were heading back to the kitchen, Yayoi spotted a group, which included the boy from the earlier, leaving. She turned to Violet and said, "That's that guy from earlier, right? Why don't we follow them? From what Havoc said, it seems that everyone will share at least this first class, so let's see if they know the way."

She did her best to catch up to the group, but having missed the conversation that had been happening up to then, she asked "H-Hey there. You guys are going to the gym too, right? D-Do any of you happen to know the way?"

"If we're asking questions I'd like to know how I got moved here without waking up and found a wardrobe full of clothes tailored for me. If someone drugged and measured me like that I'll see some heads roll," Violet said.

"Well, admittedly, I am curious as to what the classes are like. It all looks extremely interesting."

Cale kept walking alongside her, smiling earnestly. She represented a point of fascination with him - and increasingly he was liking the idea of going along with her more. Granted not into villainy, nothing quite so simple.

He'd always heard storied how dating a supervillain rarely ended well, but he was not entirely the type to pay heed to those warning stories, as they always had a bit of a morality play in them.

"...and classes aside, Stacy, what do you guys do for fun around here?"

"Oh, the usual." Stacy commented. "Video games, TV, etc. Go into town on occasion. Oddly enough, that's the only place we can't commit crimes. You'd think a city full of retired villains would be willing to overlook the odd felony here and there, but whatever." She stopped at the gym, taking a quick look inside. "Crap. Titan's still here. I'd heard a rumor that he'd been fired, but no such luck, apparently."

The gym teacher was ten feet tall if he was an inch, and doing bicep curls with an SUV in each hand. He gingerly set the vehicles down to avoid a thunderous crash, and introduced himself. "Greetings," he said in a surprisingly high-pitched voice. "My name is Titan, and it's my job to teach you how to fight. We'll start with one-on-ones, see your style. Powered individuals on the left, mere mortals on the right. Now get paired up."

Danielle looked at the massive man with a mixture of awe and fear. He could probably punch me across the block! Best keep away from him when the stuff starts flying. She quietly got into the left-hand group, wondering who would match up with her.

"Oh, we can go into town? Any good bookstores?" Violet asked curiously. "Or a library I guess." She glanced up at the.. apparently the teacher for the class. Ok, then.

She glanced at Yayoi and headed over to the nonpowered group. With any luck she'd get matched up with the younger girl.

So apparently, there is a town around where they could go to. That would make it much easier to find a secret meeting for both of them and anyone else caught in the same situation. The fact that not even the villains could commit crimes there made her feel somewhat safer as well.

Violet promptly asked about a library, to which Yayoi gave her a brief knowing look and flash her a warm smile, turning away before anyone thought suspicously of it.

As she stepped into the gym, she came really nervous again, specially when she saw the humongous teacher. She promptly followed Violet to the non-powered side. It wasn't exactly a lie, at least not in the moment: Right now, she was as frail and weak as any average girl of her age. She just hoped that they never catched on to the fact that wasn't always the case.

She hoped against hope that she get to sparr against Violet and also that despite not being transformed and thus not having any boosted strenght , that she would still have retained some of her other form fighting skills, so she could put up a front of a decent fight at least. If she didn't ...She couldn't shake the feeling that something horrible would be done to her ...

Please, Cure Peace, Miracle Peace, lend me some of your incredible power even without transforming, so that I may survive this and eventually end this evil at its very root, She pleaded in her mind.

Cale listened in to everything Stacy was saying, making mental notes that somehow in this hodge podge of a dimension, there was a town outside, and the villains in training could not commit crime out there. And it was apparently stocked with retired villains.

At least they have basic enjoyment instead of rampant chaos / destruction.

And fired? What would that big brutish fellow do that'd make a school of villains fire him?

The promised and vague incident was both unnerving and rife with implications, but Cale did not let that worry him for now. At this moment he had to make an appearance...

The blond young man walked over to the left, and given the fact they were about to start fighting by all indications, he removed his letterman jacket. Thus leaving him in his tight black t-shirt, showing his well muscled and incredibly toned arms as he did so.

The young man did a few stretches as he stood there, awaiting any further instruction. He made sure his jacket was out of the way - it was a gift, so he didn't want it damaged.

Elvyra followed behind Prodigal Son and threw out a gesture of mock terror as he threw off his letterman. "Oh, golly, folks, check out this slick operator, neuhh!" She made a sarcastic noise that actually translated into Noth's black speech of eons as falsely sagacious navigator of abyssal starscapes or something like that.

Elvyra, how long are you going to keep the tentacles hidden? They're a really good setpiece for folks like these. I'd know how far fear can get you. Noth asked, as if on cue.

Idunno. Replied Elvyra. Till I see when I can really fuck someone's shit up with it or something. I'm playing it by ear.

She crossed her arms and popped multiple eyes into existence to keep an eye on this Titan guy. Those who can't do, teach. Those who can't teach, teach gym. Therefore, motherfucker wasn't doing for a damn good reason.

"Bookstores?" Titan looked at Violet with amusement. "Blackheart Books has everything you could need. Novels, technical manuals, or magical tomes. Rumor has it that there's a copy of every book ever written in there, but nobody's really tested that."

Stacy moved over to pair off with Elvyra. "Eyeballs? Really? Got to admit, that's probably the weirdest power here, including the guy who's a living pile of sludge." She created an aura of lightning around her fists. "Problem is, I can't see how you'd use it in a fight. Pardon the turn of phrase."

Danielle, meanwhile, walked over to stand opposite Cale. "I'll admit, I've never been in a fight before. I'm more the manipulator type of evildoer." She took up a defensive stance, waiting for him to make the first move. Maybe he'd go easy on her.

Elvyra frowned at Danielle challenging Prodigal Son and stealing that opportunity, but this damn girl was trying to doubt her eyes! She didn't even need the tentacles out to beat her.

Elvyra threw her arms at her side and stepped back, then swung one arm forward and pointed at Stacy. "Arright, you wanna go then? TBH I can immediately think of, like, three ways a sludge pile guy could kill someone, and without a gun I'm a little at a disadvantage, but I can make do with what I got." More eyes fanned out behind Elvyra like a Beholder, analyzing Stacy across every spectrum of light and zooming in on her in minute detail.

Good acting, my friend.

He looked over at Stacy - who was looking to be facing off with Elvyra - and briefly gave her a thumbs up before looking back at Danielle. It looked like he was to fight the fire girl. Should be an interesting battle. He wondered how far she wanted to take it and simply crossed his arms.

"Fine with me...feel free to have the first move." Cale stretched his arms a little more before assuming what looked like a martial arts stance, though he mixed queues with it enough that it would be difficult to see which one it was he practised.

I've still got that energy from that idiot jock from earlier. Lets dance.

Violet smiled at Yayoi. "Alright, well. I don't really know much hand-to-hand, but I guess you don't either, huh." She stretched her arms. "On top of which we didn't get a chance to change into gym clothes... Oh well. You want to go first? As long as it looks good enough for them it'll be fine," she said quietly, so that only the other girl would hear.

Yayoi replied just as quietly, "Well, actually ... I do, but usually only when ... You know, so I don't know how well it translates to when I'm like this, but well, here goes nothing ..."

She dropped her bag beside so that it wouldn't hinder her, as she was at enough of a disadvantage already. She attempted to do a rough imitation of the stance she would normally assume as Cure Peace when she preparing to strike an Akanbe. Then suddenly, she leapt forward with a fist outstretched in Violet's direction.

"Oh, you're such a gentleman. Probably going to get you thrown in a jail cell one of these days." Danielle laced her hands with a little bit of heat energy. She could have done so much more if she were transformed, but villains were like vampires: they weren't supposed to sparkle. She had a little bit of hand-to-hand experience, so the right jab she threw had a just a hint of a snap to it.

Elvyra's enhanced eyes would see a large electrical charge building up in Stacy's hands, which she discharged at her foe. Truth be told, Stacy was nervous. She didn't have any real physical powers like strength or speed. All she was packing was her lightning, and that was fairly easy to dodge.

Elvyra was impressed and sort of interested that nobody bothered to split off into groups or join a fighting ring or anything like that. Stacy was just going for it. Awesome. However, instead of dodging lightning, Elvyra preempted it. As soon as her eyes caught stray electrons building into the girl's arm, Elvyra moved forward. As Stacy struck forwards, she had already shifted her weight away from that arm, then fully swung under it as Stacy fired. The lightning never targeted her at all.

"Go down quick if you know what's good for you." Now inside her arm's reach, Elvyra swung her hand upwards to try to smash her clenched fist into Stacy's throat.

Cale watched her hand rush in at him, analyzing each movement as it happened, preparing his defensive measure; Looks like she's trained through experience, probably a few boxing lessons on the side...some energy in there too...

He promptly caught her hand in his right hand, and employed his strength to try to hold her hand there, absorbing the heat energy present...but finding out he was not very experienced with her sort. While he succeeded at absorbing it, there were some slight burn marks on his hand.

Not conventional heat energy...mysticism perhaps...?

He then promptly readied his left arm and - while trying to hold her arm there, jabbed at his opponent's upper arm, quick and hard. The aim was to curtail her ability to fight using that arm, while gauging her to see what her response to such a move would be.

I don't want to play out my absorbed energy right now - there's really no reason to...
