We Have All Been Genderflipped 2.0

"Ah, well...", Mikaela tries to explain, a sweatdrop forming on her head, "I'm... Not a cosplayer."

"Well at least you're honest about it"

(S)he nods as they finish scanning and bagging the remaining groceries.

"That'll be three twenty seven dollars and forty five cents."

The number pops up on the card reader.

A few people look at Mikaela as she speaks, some frowning and others whispering to the other onlookers.

Mikaela takes note of the whispers and further explains, "... Well, I'm not dressed as a specific character, so saying I'm a cosplayer technically isn't right when this is just a generic samurai costume."

She then pulls out various dollars and coins to match the price she's presented with and hands it all to the cashier.

Daydre glances at the onlookers out of the corner of his eye, but tries not to focus on them.

(S)he carefully counts the money and puts it into the register, passing Mikaela's change over along with the receipt. Once the bags are all loaded into the cart, they move their gaze to Daydre and give him a cutesy smile while cheerfully saying, "Thank you for shopping here you three, have a great rest of your day!" before turning to help the next person in line.

"You too", she responds with a smile before heading to the door with the cart full of food.

"Oh, thank you too.. I guess.. Uh.." He turns and follows Mikaela out the door.

Upon exiting the supermarket, Mikaela turned to Daydre and Aquarius.

"So, should we try heading to the hardware store, or get this food home quick so it doesn't spoil? Or maybe one or two of us can bring this food back, while the others go check the hardware store?"

"We can probably just get the screws and go back.. It should be fine as long as we don't take too long.."

"Alright", said Mikaela, looking around, "Not too familiar with most of this town, so I guess maybe we should ask someone about the hardware store?"

"That sounds like a good plan.. Maybe we should get a map so we can avoid this later?"

There are other people walking in and out of the store; you are in front of a Trader Joe's in the late afternoon.

"Alright... Daydre, could you ask one of those people for directions? I think I might scare them.", asked Mikaela, sounding slightly sheepish.

".. O-okay.." Daydre approaches a person at random and tries to tap them on the shoulder. "Excuse me.."

The nearest person is a young woman with two young children in tow who's just entering the store. She turns and replies to Daydre.

"Oh, can I help you with something?"

One child stares at Mikaela but hides behind the woman's leg.

"Oh, yeah.. Would you mind pointing us in the direction of a hardware store?" He asks.

Mikaela twiddles her fingers, waiting. Her expression is very soft and doesn't show any signs of aggression whatsoever.

"Oh, sure! Ferrus' place is just a few blocks down from here, and it's real easy to spot. There's a big sign and all the construction types park their with trucks and the like, it's all lit up and that. Lemme write down the directions for you-"

She fumbles around for a pen and a scrap of paper, writes on it, and hands over Daydre.

"-and there you go! You have a nice evening, and stay dry! The weather lady said that it was going to be nasty tonight."

The girl behind the woman slowly smiles but remains in place.

Mikaela returns the smile just as slowly.

"Thank you!..." Daydre takes the slip of paper. "Well, we'll try... Hopefully the rain lets up.." He quickly backs out and heads back to Konk.

"There's one a few blocks from here.. that lady gave me directions."

Joanna gives the projector a nice flick to its body and a puff to blow off some of the dust, then backs away so Eisen can fiddle with it.

"Hey, Eisen. You think we can spool out a VHS tape and put it on a film reel? It may take a while, but we should have enough time before night falls."

She didn't know why she had to mention that last part; it seemed entirely inconsequential, but eh, it's out there, so there's not really much she can do at this point. Though...oh, hell, it could make her look a little suspicious. Maybe a little. Or maybe she was just overthinking this. They probably won't comment.

"Alright", said Mikaela, giving a thumbs up, "Let's go!"

"Ah, yeah.." Daydre follows the directions to the hardware store, though he first makes sure Mikaela is following him.

Mikaela is in fact following Daydre's lead.
