The 3DS version makes the time limit much more manageable, with the ability to make permanent saves at owl statues and other save points. The original save system was much more off-putting to me than the time limit itself.
The only thing I really found annoying about the resetting was that I ended up fighting Goht like a dozen times.
What do you want to see out of BOTW's dungeons?
I want to see more complex dungeons, like Lanayru Mining Facility or Great Bay Temple or 3DS!Water Temple.
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonBOTW's dungeons should challenge you to find your way through the dungeons, while making use of items in various ways to open new routes.
They should not be "use item on obvious target" to get to next room.
That's all I ask.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.I just hope the dungeon themes/settings are exciting. Challenging puzzles are welcome, but I don't mind simple puzzles as long as the dungeon really makes me feel like I'm exploring some ancient, mystical place. The Forest Temple, Spirit Temple, and Forbidden Woods are my favorites, so give me something like that, please.
Oh, and also: mini-bosses. Don't skimp on the mini-bosses!
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?Just keep beating that dead horse, man.
Trans rights are human rights.I'm just hoping BOTW won't fall into that trap like WW, TP, and SS all did. At least the physics grants more depth to puzzles but we still have to see the proper dungeons.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Honestly, if all the puzzles are way too intuitive and challenging, they are too hard to get into for many players. Keep in mind many kids play the game too. Let it slowly build up the challenge. Start with obvious solutions and make them challenging as the game goes on. I do agree that having them all beyond obvious solutions is a bad thing in itself because it doesn't challenge your mind. A balance is the best thing to have.
Then explain ALTTP, a game that was genuinely challenging for dedicated gamers but still had kids as a target audience.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Yes, we know. You've made your stance abundantly clear. You do not need to restate it on every page.

Trans rights are human rights.I honestly think people exaggerate the simplicity of dungeon puzzles. I mean, I don't think they're that challenging either, but that's never gotten in the way of my enjoyment.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?ALTTP had no problems easing you into it and also had obvious and not-so-obvious puzzles. I don't see the problem here. It in fact did just what I said, have balance.
Honestly, I think it would be MORE interesting at this point to have a dungeon that isn't some remote mystical sanctuary. The Snowpeak Ruins is a good example of what I mean. It has a certain opulence, yes, but it's just a mansion people used to live in.
I don't expect something like that from Breath of the Wild, but for future games it's worth considering.
Since the other thread is not moving, I'll jsut mention here that I'm starting a brand new MM playthrough right now.
The atmosphere is just incredible. I hope BOTW can replicate it in a different way. it doesn't have to be darker like MM
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonI don't think A Link to the Past is much more challenging than any of the 3D games, to be honest. It is harder than Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, but not by much.
Yeah, I think I misspoke. I didn't mean to say that every dungeon needs to be a crumbling ruin, only that it should have great atmosphere. It should be a memorable place that makes you eager to go explorin'. Snowpeak Mansion is a good one, and I maintain that Forbidden Woods is criminally underrated.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?Exactly. It's not pointlessly difficult(although I gotta admit trying to get magic refills in ALTTP is a bitch sometimes), but still keeps you on your toes. It does a great job at having that balance overall.
IMO best dungeons for atmosphere are Forest and Spirit Temples, Stone Tower Temple, Tower of the Gods, anything from TP except for the Temple of Time, Lanayru Mining Facility and Ancient Cistern.
"I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work." -Thomas EdisonWhat I love about Forbidden Woods is that it really delivers on the idea of exploring this mystical, fairy tale woodland. It's full of weird plants and giant insects and everything looks like it's alive. I especially love the Dexivines, abandoned Kokiri houses, and those gigantic shifting tree branches. The lighting and music do a really great job setting the scene, too. It's just a fun place to be in.
Is that a Wocket in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?ALTTP is a lot more challenging when it comes to the enemies than any of the 3D games, or even most of the succeeding 2D games. Not in a way that I particularly enjoy it, but the challenge was definitely there. That and finding some of the medallions, which I don't know how you're supposed to know how to get them. Did I miss some hints for those?
Combat in BOTW seems more challenging than previous titles, but it probably won't be too bad once you figure out enemy patterns, and since Link is agile and has no stamina bar for dodging, that shouldn't be difficult to figure out.
The enemy AI seems slightly smarter in Bot W. The enemies' pathfinding seems to avoid bombs.
I'm not expecting it to be hard but I think all the options you have and the RPG mechanics will make it more fun.
I'm going to get jumped by those chameleon enemies a lot, i'll bet.
Visit my Tumblr! I may say things. The Bureau ProjectWell, then, hope they are idiots who jump on swords.
One Strip! One Strip!I wonder if all of the bird people like Kass live on that big airship we saw.
I wonder if both of those women in the trailer are Zelda, one royal outfit and one party joining adventure outfit? It seems like there will be combat capable NP Cs hanging around so her joining your party might be nice.

my theory is that the one Link kneels to at the end of the trailer is the one from 100 years ago, while the other woman we see is the Zelda from the present day.

I suppose so. I can't say that losing your rupees ever bothered me much even if I didn't store in the bank, mostly because there are a number of ways to gain rupees rather quickly, like the Takkuri bird in Termina Field and the chest in the town containing 100 rupees which is pretty easy to get to.
