To be completely honest, I'm usually not even much of a fan of those types of big open-world games in the first place. I am excited for Bot W's take on the concept since it seems like it will be pretty fun and the game itself looks gorgeous and wonderful to get lost in, but I hope they won't fall into a lot of the same problems those games can have.
And what most people seem to forget about GTA3 and other games in it's universe is you were completely limited in where you could go at first up until you completed certain story missions due to Broken Bridges and lots of water. San Andreas let you explore the world all at once, but the bridges were closed and you got a 5 star wanted level if you explored either the San Fierro or Las Venturas areas making it more difficult to get around.
Wind Waker wasn't seamless. The large areas of open sea between each area were very noticeable seams.
It's like Aonuma put it in the video I posted earlier: the islands all have defined entrances and they were all put in a large open sea to simulate an open world.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page. This games overworld looks so empty.
Also where are all the NPC's?
I really wish that I could get excited about this game, but from what I've seen so far this game just doesn't look or feel like Zelda to me.
Its a work in progress,it's likely the NPC will be added in (I hope) the final version.
New theme music also a boxThere are probably some more of them you can meet but since this appears to be a post-apocalyptic setting like say the games in the Souls series there might not be too many of them around. It might be too early to say, though.
But if it is the case, I'm honestly fine with that, since even though it's an idea that's arguably overabundant in games right now, Bot W has an overworld beautiful enough to make that kind of atmospheric approach viable.

I think they also said that the Great Plateau is isolated from the rest of Hyrule. It's possible you don't see any people because they can't get there but once you leave things get more civilized.
I believe they also claimed the E3 build was deliberately stripped of a lot of elements.
I sure said that!It was stated at E3 that there are villages and NPC characters to interact with, but they were removed from the demo so that they could focus on the gameplay without spoiling the plot.
Reaction Image RepositoryI'm of the impression that the Isolated Plateau, the former location of Castle Town, is deserted, and that all the towns and NPCs are beyond that area.
Please help out our The History Of Video Games page.Nintendo of Germany announced that Breath of the Wild will not be publicly playable at Gamescom. Instead there will be a fan contest where people send in a pictures of something Zelda related (cosplay, collecting, drawing) and 50 people will get to play it in a special section.
Also, the winners of Gamescom's Nintendo tournaments will get to play it as well.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Gottverdammt Nintendo !
While 50 is probably too low (how many units are they bringing?), the principle is sound seeing how Gamescom is open to the public, and they probably want to avoid any stampedes.

Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!I know that. 'Twas a joke.
This song needs more love.
I honestly pay very little attention to specs, so that might be true. In any case, my point is that just because the CG and PS 2 were part of the same generation doesn't mean they were both capable of the same thing. And even if they were there are plenty of reasons for deciding against the idea other than "Aonuma is incompetent". Especially since while they weren't open world, all of the games released in the intervening time have been, on the whole, pretty well received. Yeah, there are complaints, but it's the Zelda fandom. There will always be complaints.
