The last thing you mentioned sounds somewhat like Absentee Actor; the "Alice and Bob" example you gave seems like something the missing Super-Trope mentioned in Post 1 and 2 of this thread would be about.

Hrrrm, I thought Absentee Actor was about, well, missing actors, until I read the description. That trope name REALLY sounds more narrow than it is.
