But I will agree that the relationship was shallow from the start. Same thing with Bulma and Vegeta I think. Gohan and Videl and Krillin and 18 atleast had some set-up if I recall correctly....

Vegeta and Bulma seem to have just had a one-night stand, probably after he became Super Saiyan.
Krillin had a crush on 18 because she smooched him for some reason.
Only DB ship I ever supported was Goku x Bulma.
Krillin always was a horndog willing to go with any woman who'd give him a chance, he just was mostly discreet about it and knew when he shouldn't push the issue up.

Krillin in his early years was a bit of a pervert. Unlike old Roshi though he learned to dial back on it. Still out of all of the older couples him and 18 were the best relationship wise.
He did somehow manage to get a date with Marron though (even though she was shallow and ditched him) whom was ridiculously attractive in-universe.

Well if you want me to address your actual point, then there was absolutely nothing of substance to Krillin and 18's relationship either prior to marriage. Toriyama doesn't really do romance.
Also, as far as his perversion goes (and this isn't just directed at you) but that character trait just kind of vanished completely when he grew up.
