There is a complication in that an improved version of the image was added halfway through, so dunno if people who already voted had the chance to see it.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"In 3.1, the guns look too similar, and in 3.2, what the kid is holding doesn't even look like a gun at all. The original suggestion is still the best image.
^ Honestly, I'm having a hard time figuring out how we can improve on it. It's high quality, it's a good example, and it shows every aspect of the trope. We had the same thing with an earlier image where it was downvoted in the crowner, but nobody in the thread could really find any fault with it.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"I'd say 1 is the best image.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel. Not great, but eh, 1 works.
Check out my fanfiction!1 is definitely better than any of the other suggestions.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes. As a layman, I don't see much difference in the weapons in 1.It's kind of subtle, no?
Some tropes do require at least some knowledge on the part of the viewer; in this case, at least being able to recognize an AK-47 type weapon and an M16-type weapon, which are very common in action movies and videogames.
Sure, we could say that Badass Israeli is a bad image because it requires one to know what an IDF uniform actually looks like. But the surrounding context of the trope page makes it quite clear in people's minds that "Oh, she looks like a soldier, she's kicking someone in the gonads and she's on the page Badass Israeli, so I guess she's supposed to be an asskicking Israeli". Even if we didn't have that, a caption can always support an image.

You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"It's less obvious it's an AK since his hands are mostly covering the wood parts, which along with the banana-shaped magazine underneath are the most recognisable parts of a rifle in the AK family.
The trope also requires at least that much familiarity with firearms to work in the first place, so requiring that for an image isn't too far-fetched, I think. It's sort of like how Putting on the Reich doesn't work nearly as well if you don't recognise the style of uniform in the first place.
Check out my fanfiction!Bump. Other thoughts?
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"Re-bump.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"I'm in agreement on the first image. Second doesn't work because both characters have the exact same model of pistol, and the third doesn't work all that well either because which one is "good" or "bad" depends almost entirely on who's using it, rather than the gun itself being an indicator - not to mention it's not so much "good vs bad" as it is "long obsolete vs fictional".
The first image works the best - it's a good guy with an M16 on the top, and a bad guy with something obviously derived from the AK on the bottom. That's one of the easiest-to-identify instances of this trope, even for people who have only cursory knowledge of firearms.
+1 for the OP.
I'll go with the OP.
(Annoyed grunt)I think that's 8 in favor. Call this?
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"Calling it. The pic's up and tagged; caption?

"Cops And Robbers has never been this serious."
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!""When the outfit's not enough of an indicator, you can tell who's good or bad by their guns."
EDIT: i feel like there should be some other trope the first half could link to but I'm not seeing anything that fits all that well, considering the only real difference in their outfits is gloves + balaclava = evil
