The games have more realistic proportions now, but the anime completely changed its art style to something more cartoony.
Which in turn was easier for them to use more Toon Boom, and thus, more epically animated battles then in any previous season of the anime before it.
Watch SymphogearEven though it's a world wide phenomenon for decades now, it sometimes good to see what your competitor is doing and study what makes them appealing. I think the sidequests make the Pokemon world even more real, and it feels really good to help side characters.
Id argue that started last season though.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. They only used Toon Boom for small sections of the previous season.
Watch SymphogearYou know, I really think mons like Tauros and Tyrantrum should get Stomping Tantrum by level up.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseStomping Tantrum? There's a move I've never heard of before.
Are you ready? Go live!I bet that's one of the moves that'll be weird when doing anime-style callouts.
"Tauros, use Stomping Tantrum!"
My DA account... I draw stuff sometimes!I always wondered what'd happen if someone had their Pokemon use Return in the anime.
"Use Return!"
"Oh, so you're switching out your Pokemon now?"
"Wha- no, it's using Return!"
"So... you're returning it to its Poke Ball?"
"There's a move called Return and I'm having it use that move! That is what I am doing!"
"Return's a move? Who the heck'd give a move that name? It's just so confusing..."
"...By the way, your Pokemon just got knocked out."
"Wait, shoot, I wasn't paying attention, can we get a do-over?"

Are you ready? Go live!Stomping Tantrum is a Ground type move that's stronger when a move on the previous turn missed.
It's been 3000 years…Actually, Stomping Tantrum only doubles its power when the previous move failed (or has no effect on the target), not missed. There is exception, like having a move blocked by the opponent's Protect won't doubles its power.
Does miss count as failing?
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseWell that sounds moderately handy.
what do you mean I didn't win, I ate more wet t-shirts than anyone elseZ -dances feel more super sentai inspired than anything else.
They're apparently inspired by hula dancing with the odd reference to something else here and there (like the first Pikachu one being a dance from some Japanese promotional thing.)
I just fought Dusk Mane Necrozma and hoo boy is this climax looking to be amazing. I assume the Dusk Mane/Dawn Wings battle theme only plays for this one fight and then never again? I hope not, that'd be such a shame.
Are you ready? Go live! You can listen to whatever battle theme you want that you've heard in game at some point but a couple of "secret" ones in multiplayer and Battle Tree battles.
But in story, yeah, that's it.
That sucks, it's such a good theme. Not as good as Ultra Necrozma's theme though, hot damn. So glad I never listened to it before this fight.
Update, Ultra Necrozma kicked my ass the first time I fought it. Then I realized I should maybe put a Focus Sash on my Vikavolt so I could paralyze it, which I did, and the rematch went rather well until Vikavolt was taken out. What followed was basically a montage of the rest of my team getting one-shotted before I had Malamar unload a Black Hole Eclipse on the damn thing, taking it down at last. Fitting, since not even light can escape a black hole's gravitational pull.
Now I must ask myself the two hardest questions in the game... Which party member do I replace with Poismol the Poipole, and is Mild an okay nature for it? (In regards to the first one, I'm leaning most towards benching Kthanid)
- Inigo the Primarina, level 51
- Vector the Vikavolt, level 51
- Kthanid the Malamar, level 52
- Aureolin the Shiny Florges, level 51
- Boxer the Mudsdale, level 51
- Kenneth the Arcanine, level 50

Are you ready? Go live!Could do worse than Mild. It likes Special Attack and Speed.
Goddammit, Schezo... || *insert incredibly thirsty copypasta about Dr. Ratio*Yep, Timid and Modest are my priorities with Poipole, but I don't think Mild is terrible. Lemme guess though, I can't get any other Poipole in the entire game?
Are you ready? Go live! That's the only Poipole.
Goddammit, Schezo... || *insert incredibly thirsty copypasta about Dr. Ratio*Figures. Yeah, I'll just commence the soft-resets now so I can get a Modest/Timid Poismol that I can actually use competitively if I want to try (and fail) at that again.
Congratulations on the 25000th post, whoever you may be!

Are you ready? Go live!
But Gen VII is MORE realistic than previous gens. The proportions are more true to life.
The Crystal Caverns A bird's gotta sing.
