It's not about the budget, A-1 pictures is generally just bad with scheduling and their productions end up rushed.
If I knew how I know everything I know, I'd only be able to know half as much because my brain would be clogged up with where I know it fromI don't even know if they sticked with the plot but what I did know is for some reason they packed Tales Of Berseria stuff with it without any warning.
I had to look online to figure out what exactly was going on. I had next to no clue that that part of the anime took place in the distant past, the world doesn't really match up as everything is named differently.
Those episodes also introduced also the viewpoint of another cliched protagonist, aka a much more Darker and Edgier protagonist. I was kind of annoyed really as I am sick of seeing badass protagonists being lauded over again. She was a good fighter yes but I wasn't impressed by her character wise. I am getting kind of sick of seeing What Measure Is a Non-Badass? in play time and time again....

Formerly known as Bleddyn And I am feeling like a ghost Resident Perky GothAs far as I know, the Tales of Zestiria veers a lot from the game, most prominently in expanding the role of Princess Alisha. Most people I've talked to have said that the anime's story is a major improvement over the game's.
I liked Berseria a lot better >_>
And it wasn't without warning, the preview said that something like that was going to happen
On the name thing, that seems to be down to the localization, as they match up in the japanese

Oops, I didn't realise that was from this season (I followed the link to look and it said 2013 but looking again it seems that was the page for the manga not the anime) but I still find it suppressing that Qualidea Code was second for this season.
And now for the last installment of Summer 2016 Tribute to the Threadless:
- DAYS: Quite unfortunate that this football-oriented show turned out to be a big miss. And with the deluge of sports shows this season (with 2-3 of those almost guaranteed to be excellent) there's no point to keeping up with this. Dropped.
- Tales of Zestiria: Apparently, this is an improvement over the games, which makes me wonder how much those sucked story-wise. ufotable still delivers the goods though, it's darned nice and polished to look at.
- Saiki Kusuo no Nan: Barely manages to crack a smirk these past few episodes. The skits with Hot-Blooded Hairo and Perfect-Bishoujo Teruhashi are usually the most entertaining, especially the latter since she seems to be the person Saiki has the hardest time dealing with.
- orange: The budget from the three or so previous episodes seems to have been poured into the last one, boasting animation on par with the premiere, and double-length to boot! It wraps up the story with Naho and her buddies having helped Kakeru establish a firm foothold against his depression. As interesting as the raw depiction of depression was, I think— along with many others— that the real star of the show was the supporting male lead, who was truly a bro among bros. One thing I wish the story cut out was the explanation of the "time travel which it didn't need.
- Time Travel Shoujo: We never do get to find out the deal with the book. Otherwise, a prime example of how edutainment should be done. The time travelers don't only learn interesting science factoids, they also learn important aesops from seeing not only what the scientists and inventors of history have discovered, but also the mindset and values that drove them to such discoveries in the first place. The show also wasn't afraid to lessen the focus on science to shift the focus to the main plot; leaving the main antagonist trapped in the past was pretty cold if you ask me. Oh, and it's fairly well researched (albeit with artistic liberty), and has some nice attention to detail like Mikage actually having to speak English when his armillary compass stopped working.
- Qualidea Code: In two words: wasted potential. The rough outline of the story is actually rather interesting, and the characters are more nuanced than I had thought initially. However, subpar animation (even dipping into no animation), rough storytelling and, let's face it, the air force duo drag it down. This needed some more time in the oven. A lot more time, actually. On the bright side, the first OP is probably my favorite in the cour. So peppy!
- Kono Bijutsubu ni wa Mondai ga Aru!: One of my most enjoyed shows this season. An endearing rom com that gets a lot of the little things right, from background gags, to likeable characters, to shout outs to other anime, to its approach to the typical anime romance events. Not to mention the superb direction and animation (especially in the utterly gorgeous slo-mo scenes). It actually reminds me of Nozaki-kun, partly because of the lively animation, and partly because Usami has the same voice actress as Chiyo.
So with the season officially finished, I can say I'm pretty pleased with it. The highlights of the season were definitely Nejimaki Seirei Senki: Tenkyou no Alderamin and amaama to inazuma.
My sole highlight was Mob Psycho 100.
91 Days
Formerly known as Bleddyn And I am feeling like a ghost Resident Perky GothI liked Mob Psycho, Alderamin, and Re: Zero.
For me. Mob, Alderamin and Thunderbolt Fantasy
Wait. It's October already and there's no page for autumn 2016 anime?
you want Fall 2016 Anime.
Really late, but my highlights for the season are:
- Mob Psycho 100: Very flashy and stylish and anime, and very good!
- 91 Days: The un-anime anime. Pretty good revenge story even if the writing could be a bit tighter.
- Alderamin on the Sky: There should be more episodes of this tactics-focused fantasy warfare thing.
- Kono Bijutsubu ni wa Mondai ga Aru!: Wonderfully directed rom com with copious helpings of eye-candy animation.
About Zestiria, did they stick to the plot of the game, or did they go into a different direction?
