to be obsessed over an video game that you didn't buy around 2 or 3 years ago?

Since my mildly autistic stepbrother went on an tirade yesterday about how he picked an few games that he wanted at the time over an few Mario platformers, an Mario Party game, LEGO Chima, and something else on the 3DS. And he tried to pin the blame on me for not forcing him to buy what he really wanted instead of just buying whatever he was asking for. Since I'm an "play the hand that you've been dealt with/all that glimmers isn't aurum" type of guy when it comes to buying video games, and he's nearly my opposite on philosophical terms; I'm kinda curious if the average person experiences immense pain and regret for "buying the wrong game" after an period of several months. I know that nearly anything related to Nintendo's I Ps is usually worth buying; but after growing up with Mario, LEGO Star Wars, and Sonic, I just want to see what else is on the market before it's discontinued. Aside from the Bayformers, I have no regrets so far. Just the pride that I had did something different and enjoyed it...like the way I play League of Legend, for example.

Anyways, I'll check in on this sometime over the weekend and my stepbrother will probably throw another fit this afternoon.

Not if it's a good (or even mediocre) game, I don't. I just start thinking that I'll need to purchase that other game I missed out on in the future when I have the money.

However, if I ended up purchasing a crappy game when I could've had my hands on a great one? Yeah, I'll obviously end up regretting that and making a point to blacklist whatever franchise or developer made that turd. Best example I can think of would be Carrier Command: Gaea Mission for the PC. That game looked incredible from the teaser material released, but upon getting my hands on it I quickly realized how broken and horrible the game really was. The big red warning flag should've been that it was Bohemia Interactive who was the developer - the guys responsible for the ARMA mil-sim games and their notoriously buggy and horrid AI design. And given how this particular game was entirely singleplayer and relied almost entirely upon working alongside AI units in combat, there was no way the product was going to end up turning out good.

I'm going to close this topic on the general principle that it's too broad and too likely to draw complaining. We would prefer that Media forum topics discuss specific works, franchises, or creators. These sorts of "gabby" topics do better in Yack Fest.
