> Warcraft is too dense
I had,it was right there for the taking, you must understand.
New theme music also a boxSo I just watched this.
Thought it was pretty fun.
The main villains plan was...probably one of the most well intentioned since Magma / Aqua. Had a wide variety across all gens (in fact, I think every generation obviously barring Gen VIII was represented by at least one mon), and Reynolds has probably giving people a new interpretation of Pikachu...one that may give them nightmares.
What was the overall opinion on the movie in both the West and in Japan? I'm curious as to how it faired in the long run.

One Strip! One Strip!Detective Pikachu has been nominated for Teen Choice Awards of Best Comedy and Best Comedy Actor for Ryan Reynolds. I don't see winning the former, but the latter is a possibility.

I found a fanfic I really liked, so I made a fanfic rec page.
The Protomen enhanced my life.Is Detective Pikachu still playing in some American theatres? I was disappointed to find out that my local theatre doesn't have it anymore after barely a month; yet somehow Aladdin is still playing.
Finally saw the movie now that it's out on DVD. While I did call the villain from the moment Tim and Pikachu were introduced to him and he started dropping exposition it was a fun ride. The plot isn't really anything special but the movie was good enough that it more than makes up for that "flaw." Favorite character was Lucy and if we get sequels or other works in this universe I want to see more of her.
Now to read through the rest of the thread.
I called the villain before I even saw it - my guess was that it'd be one of Bill Nighy's character, the person giving the inspiring speech in the trailer, OR the owner of the imposing desk with the god statues behind it...
...and I was right on all three!
I read through the entire One Piece thread before I even made an account here, 55 pages is nothing.
x5 If they want to bring a familiar face back as the protagonist of a sequel-ish (Tim's story is pretty done, really) movie set in the same universe, Lucy's basically their best choice.

The official art book is great.
Necro: Legendary Pictures Representative says movie 2 still in development, but wouldn't say anything else.
"We're all paper, we're all scissors, we're all fightin' with our mirrors, scared we'll never find somebody to love."Feels like they are pretty early on the process, really.
Wake me up at your own risk.Man, it's been so long since the first one.
Sonic's been faster in establishing in his movie franchise.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.Of course Sonic was faster, that's kind of his thing!
I guess you could say Detective Pikachu was too slow.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. It's been a long time since the second Detective Pikachu movie was in development. I wonder why it's taking them so long to get a second movie out?
I love animation, TV, movies, YOU NAME IT!No clue, but it's not like they have to worry about losing momentum—it's Pokémon.
Ryan Reynold's availability is probably a factor. That man is busy.
I wonder if COVID-19 might have also caused some issues in the development process.
How would they even do a sequel? The kid's dad merges with Pikachu again? Ryan Reynolds is in human form but Pikachu is also there?
The very best, like no one ever was. Check out my Spider-Man fanfic here! [1]
They should have done a tv series (Netflix would be perfect if not for the fact that it's not in China, which is a HUGE Warcraft market), but movies could have worked if they were a bit more careful and not rush it so much. Starting with a movie that is nothing but the rise of the Horde on Draenor probably would have been more effective, as it's both a more unique story but also unquestionably part of the larger franchise.
Anyway, back to this movie, my friend was disappointed that there weren't more unique pokemon in the background scenes. He was making a game of spotting them, until about half an hour in when he realized they were repeating. Not sure it would have been worth the extra cost, but it might have gotten more repeat viewings.
