"My mistress is searching for something. A cure to a ailment, a curse that befalls her and her partner." Xeo states calmly as he suddenly looks around.
Still in his spirit form, not visible to regular mortals just peering around at the silence. Taking in a deep breath and arching his back. Trying to sense if something is approaching, this was odd.
"After time adrift among open stars, along tides of light and through shoals of dust, I will return to where I began."

Minami looks a bit saddened at that. "I see...I am sorry to hear that. It does not sound easy to deal with..." Looking back to the prayer statue just behind her, she knees before it, taking her hands out the sleeves of her kimono and clasps them together in front of her. "I will say a prayer for them both." she says before bowing her head and doing just that.
...There is a sudden oppressive aura that seems to be violently permeating from the statue just in front of her. However, Minami does not seem to be able to detect it for some reason...

Sonome Shrine
Xeo snaps at at detecting the aura. "Miss Kujou, get back! A taint is approaching from the shrines statue..." Xeo almost barks at her, though oddly still respectful. Moving closer though a distance back, teeth shown and back arched.
Xeo then letting out a calling howl that any who can detect spirits could hear, though it wouldn't be obvious it was a spirit over a normal wolf howling for most.
Sonome
Ren and Mana both hear the howl. "Mana you didn-"
"Yes. Now, it sounds like there is trouble however, lets get moving." She says rushing forwards before even finishing to speak.
Ren just blinking. "Mana! Get back here. It could be dangerous!" He calls back having to run to keep up with his stubborn sister.

"H-Huh...?" Minami quickly stands and moves back from the statue at Xeo's order. Just in time too, because a black and red aura completely engulfs the statue. Out of the aura, a demonic looking arm lunges out, impacting the ground with enough force to crack the stone pavement slightly. Two red eyes make themselves apparent in the aura as well.
"Iiiiiiiiiii seeeeeeeeeeeenseeed ooooone wiiiiiiiiiiiith my poweeeeeeer..." Comes a screeching from the aura. It sounds garbled and raspy, as if verbal communication is hard for it in its current state. It says something else, but is even more intelligible. It sets its eyes directly on Xeo and hisses.
"SSSSSSSSSPPIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRIIIIIIIIIIIITTT!"
From the aura, a tendril of oppressive energy lashes out, attempting to strike Xeo. If it hits him, he might feel a sudden weakness as if his very essence is being drained away from him.
Blacksmith Hut
"Sure! Lead the w-" Date starts and pauses suddenly as if he's sensing something. "...S-Sorry, lead the way." he repeats before he follows Kokoro.

Sonome Village, Blacksmith -> Tavern
Kokoro happily lead the way, she had noticed Master Date pausing, though didn't think anything of it, still she planned to ask him about it when they were eating. After just a few minutes they arrived.

Kokoro arrived "Hello again~" She started searching for a table for her and Master Date.

Xeo tries to dash to the side, trying to avoid though he goes get partly hit. Some of his energy drained. Xeo's form immediately flashing from its spirit form to its real form which was easier to maintain. "What in the nine circles is that thing?!?" He calls out moving quickly to try and avoid getting hit, atleast the best he could with his energy drained. Not going in to attack however seemingly waiting on something.
Stairs to Sonome Shrine
Both Mana and Ren wince in pain. "What in the lights did you do!?!"
"Nothing! Xeo must be under attack."
"You really had to let him roam didn't you!"
The two argue as they rush up the stairs towards the shrine.

From the torii arch came the sound of whispering robes and a string of unidentifiable curses, following the sweet whistling sound of a whirling staff that blocked the tentacle.
Aid had come... And it reeked of unwashed clothes and cheap liquor. The vagabond stood with the other shrine visitors, a bedraggled sentinel with his stance relaxed and the bo set across his shoulders.
Faster than the eye could follow, he pulled a set of paper talismans from his sleeve and threw them towards the source of abominable aura. With the faint fluttering sound of birds in flight, the paper ornaments, inscribed with the names of heaven and paradise, hung in the air to form a barrier between it and the mortals.
"Foul thing," Blessed Saru Kon spat at the owner of the red-striated arm. "Back to the Land of Wind and Ghosts and trouble us no more!"

Tenzo raises an eyebrow as he smells grilled fish mixed with the rabbit, while smiling on the inside. "Yes. What about it?" He asks Yakushi.

Yakushi shook his head sadly. "Such a tragic waste. So many dead, such senseless brutality. Along with that I find myself curious. Did you enjoy it?" he asked, looking defenceless. He wondered if he would lie or not.

Kotone smiles softly, "I've never really been far from the sea.. It's not really in my best interest to be far from the water, I suppose. But I've started wondering what the world is like beyond these shores.."Forest
Polgara gently flips the rabbit, exposing its crispy golden brown skin and beginning to cook the interior. She listens intently as she does so, interested in how Tenzo would answer.Training Ground
Sasuke smirks and bends a little too far to the left as he starts trying to show off for his 'opponent', which causes his moneybag to fall to the ground. One of the coins somehow manages to roll its way over to Koneko, and as he crouches to collect up his coins, he covertly winks at her.Standing, he rolls his shoulders and makes his way over to one end of the ground, fingers idly tapping the staff in his hand, "An excellent strategy~" He answers Tarou, "Shall we begin?"
His forehead creases as he hears the howl, a shudder shooting down his spine, he can tell something's very wrong.

"I...I have never seen anything like this... Minami mutters as she continues to back away from the creature. She's surprised as Kon suddenly emerges, but is thankful for his assistance, not knowing he possessed such abilities.
The creature pulls itself farther out of the aura, revealing a more or less human-like torso. Red markings akin to archaic tattoos cover it's shadow-like skin in places. Tattered remains of blackened robes stained red in places cling to its frame.
Once the barrier is raised, it snarls angrily, and lashes out at it with its clawed arm, drawing its talons across its surface for a moment before drawing its hand back seemingly in pain. It glares at everyone present as it starts to channel a stronger aura around itself.
Sonome Tavern
Date follows Kokoro in, taking in the quiet bustle at this time of day. "Heh. I feel as though I have not been here in forever." Spotting an empty table, he tries to point it out to his apprentice. "Say, how about there?"
Training Ground
"I am ready when-" Tarou begins and immediately cuts off his statement as a horrible sensation suddenly surges through him. He gingerly places his hand over his chest, gripping slightly at his robe top.
I...that...
...You feel that, right? It's written all over your face...
...No...it...
Tarou proceeds to stand there, clearly distracted.
Forest
"Ooh. Looks tasty." Yoshiki says idly, watching as Polgara continues cooking the rabbit.

Sonome Village
Before Yamada can even take a sitting position, the screech pierces his ears and the feeling of the aura courses through him. It's incredibly familiar, to the point where he actually snaps his head over and glares in that direction, his hair changing and his tail and ears becoming apparent before he twists his foot, taking the Wind Step as quickly toward the source as he can. Not here, he won't let it be.
"Wha? Wait, Yamada! Don't!" is all Koneko can get out, but it's already too late.
Chikiyumi Village
"These shores are calm. Home. But I agree, sometimes I wonder what's out there, even beyond the strange things I've seen on this island," Nairube says, before glancing over to his companion, "Believe it or not, I served under a snake spirit for a very short time. Had to help them defend their castle from invaders. Nice enough sort outside of battle."
Sonome Village - Shrine
Yamada will appear in a gust of wind with his teeth bared and his blade readied, looking for the source of the disturbance. His face seems to be contorted with a mix of anger and pain.
"Where is it?!" he growls, only to see the source just ahead of him shortly after speaking.
Forest
"Why would I enjoy killing? I hunt because I have to eat. I killed those people because they were going to ransack that village. I did what I had to do." Tenzo replies defensively, pointing to the Sonome village in the distance. "I may dislike humanity, but that doesn't mean I take pleasure in hurting people."

Sonome Village, Tavern
Kokoro nodded "Why not Master?" She sat down at said table waiting for Date to do the same

"It's not going to hold for very long. Things like these are like wild horses in a pen."
The mendicant scratched at a rude place as he squatted down, eyeing the rip in space before the shrine. "The very earth screams," Kon grunted, reaching into his rolled-up straw mat and pulling out fresh scrolls, ink, and even a simple clerk's brush.
He planted the staff point down in the hard earth, knelt, and began to scrawl a rite of banishment with practiced speed, all the while muttering prayers of warding, and of heaven's favor.

Ren and Mana arrive at the peak to see the creature inside the barrier then looking over to Xeo. Both look a little harried and had been running to get up here.
Xeo dashes over before the two. "Mistress, I apologize but I was attacked."
"Its fine, i'll handle this. Protect Ren."
Xeo nods, while Ren looks a little uncomfortable as his sister stepped forward. Their suppressed Half-Yokai aura's were no longer hidden. Mana seeing the individual writing out some kind of banishment she nodded. "I'll help keep it contained." Mana calls stepping forward with a hand extended as she begins to chant, using her own spellcraft to erect a second barrier.

Yakushi nodded sagely. "I thought as much." He sighed, looking deep into the fire, smelling jasmine. "Such a senseless waste of human life. I thought perhaps I could save some of them, bandits and innocents. But, it was not to be, so I just made sure they went to a peaceful rest" he added, taking a drink of water from his a gourd. "So are you all travelling somewhere?"

Tarou is silent, his face going completely stoic as he looks at Sasuke. "...More than you know." With that he quickly turns on his heel and takes off for the shrine. He had to stop it. Every fiber of his being was dead set on it...at least, that was his hope. Because if it wasn;t, that could only mean one other thing...
No...no time for thoughts like that. Just keep moving.
Sonome Shrine
The monster slams its hands down on the ground, creating a loud boom like thunder, before tendrils of dark lightning surge about. Some are merely blocked by the barrier but some curves around it, threatening to hit the others present.
The creature's form seems to slowly phase in and out, as if its having a time staying corporeal in this plane. Kon's actions also seem to be influencing it somewhat.
Sonome Tavern
Date takes a seat as well, relaxing. "Heh, it feels as though I've been gone so long, I'd forgetten what this place even looks like."
Forest
Yoshiki silently looks into the fire before he answers Yakushi. "My parents were traveling to Sonome so we could see the shrine..." he says. "...I guess they might have to be buried there now, though..."

Kokoro chuckled "Well, since I'm here for the first time I have the same problem Master, but what I know for a fact is that the Taiyaki here are super delicious." She said her mouth already watering "*Giggle* You know master, I just now noticed how hungry I really am - seems I kinda skipped lunch today since it felt so good to finally be able to work again."

"No, I live here. And I'd rather not go out to the village, or anywhere with a lot of people." Tenzo says, though he looks at Yoshiki and considers making an exception.
Sonome Shrine
The jolts of dark lightning strike out towards Ren. Xeo moves quickly and dives in the way taking the hit instead though he as well as Ren and Mana all let out a shared wince do pain.
"Ren, leave quickly! Let your sister fight." Xeo ordered, barely able to stand.
"i- i cant just." Ren tiries to respond through the pain before getting interrupted. "Xeo just get him out of here!"
Xeo nodded and moved quickly, grabbing onto Rens clothes and pulling him away quickly. There is no contest, Xeo was as strong as many humans combined Ren was as strong as he looks with the body of a child and is dragged away.
Despite the pain of the jolt that coursed through the three of them,, Mana had her barrier so with that in hand and active, she decided to try and fight lightning with some fire. Beginning to chant her next incantation assuming she isn't interrupted by the time she can finish it.

Sonomi Shrine
The person who had fallen asleep by the torii gate looked like some vagabond attempted to masquerade as a holy man, his white and saffron robes in much need of cleaning, and his straw mat ratty and worn. He stank of liquor and looked in need of a good wash. The only thing orderly about his appearance was the beautiful bo staff that he held onto in his slumber.
He snorted and scratched at his nose, uncaring of the silence that now surrounded the shrine.
