Explain why they don't fit.
For Gay Ngst at least, it's often a side effect of homophobia.
MAX POWER KILL JEEEEEEEEWWWWWHomoerotic Subtext isn't necessarily homophobic; in a lot of cases, it's to add a gay element to a story without having it be the center of the story. So I think that particular trope should be removed from the index.
I think the logic behind its inclusion was that Homoerotic Subtext can be the *only* way to get anything even vaguely gay past the studios and audiences where they aren't willing to have non-straights in mainstream media. Therefore, it is a result of creator/audience homophobia, not necessarily a representation of homophobia. Does that make sense?
I apologize if I put something in the wrong place; I can't see without my glasses. It's an index, not a supertrope. All examples of the tropes don't have to fit the index. It's enough if there's any kind of tendency for them to fit.
That one I'm a little unsure if it fits, though. I can see it go either way.
Check out my fanfiction!Given , I think makes a good argument for leaving it in, then.
Frankly, the entire Homophobia index looks dubious. It's basically the Queer as Tropes index with different organization and a side of soapboxing.
Bigotry in the name of inclusion is still bigotry.^ more like the index shows how the idea of homophobia affected certain tropes. There are also non-lgbt tropes there.
MAX POWER KILL JEEEEEEEEWWWWW
The homophobia index seems to have a few tropes that don't really belong there, like Homoerotic Subtext & Gayngst. Maybe those should be removed...?
