This trope has a lot of problems. and I mean a LOT.

The definition of the trope seems to be "Something that was innovative might not be seen as that because of it being copied" or something like that. It has many problems.

1. Virtually anything that becomes influential will have it's tropes become common place, because that's what influential is. I don't think any original works stay original for long. This means that virtually anything with influence will fall under this trope.

2. Most of the entries seem to be talking about how the works are no longer enjoyable because they are no longer influential, which doesn't go under the definition of the trope, and is not true. I don't see why being influential automatically means enjoyable, and not being influential doesn't make something un-enjoyable.

3. Most of the entries are heavily misused. If Classic Simpsons, Classic Sonic The Hedgehog, and Ren And Stimpy are no longer loved, than nothing is.

4. The definition is very redundant. Something being copied a lot is already covered by Follow the Leader, something being influential is already covered by stuff like Trope Codifier, Genre Turning Point, and others, and the "no longer enjoyed" part is covered by Deader Than Disco.

So overall, the problems of the trope are that it has an unclear definition, is frequently misused, can apply to pretty much anything which had influence, is redundant with other tropes, and the fact that being influential makes something enjoyable is very debatable.

So I think that the only real solution for this is to cut and lock, and if not that, organize a MAJOR revamp.

Not an overly strong case (YMMV pages tend to be like this, people disagreeing is not an issue) so locking pending backlog resolution.
