Platinum feels a bit slow. Or maybe it's my imagination.

It takes a bit to get to the first gym, and they're grinding too much
Gen 4 was always one of the slowest Gens. Platinum fixed it a bit, but it's still something that slows a bit. Especially for a Nuzlocke, where you have to grind even more than a normal game.

They better get a Ground type though, otherwise Skuntank is going to destroy them.
They have a Shellos, which should have evolved into a water/ground type by the time they are fighting Skuntanks.

Anyway, they do have a Geodude, which learns Magnitude - that might work.
