I am. That short seemed really promising.
It's sad that they stopped having contests to let viewers pick which cartoons would get picked up for a series.
Thank god I'm not the only one. It's even sadder if you look up the guy who made it. He pitched it to Disney but they turned it down, then he tried to do a Kickstarter for a new show call Chloe and the stars, which failed. If you check up on his blog, the last update was in 2009. I know not everybody can be a winner, but that's just brutal.
Shoo her in, Effie darling, shoo her in.This rightfully remained self-contained.
There wasn't a lot of potential.
Kitty would have come off as extremely unlikable and annoying - his friends are just as bad, too - despite not being as annoying. Looking back, I'm kinda glad this didn't get picked up. I could see this show being like Regular Show, if that show never got good over time to begin with.

Eh, it's a double edged sword that can lead to mob dictatorship ruled by whatever fad is dominating audiences at the time.
Hey, we got Codename: Kids Next Door and the Grim Adventure of Billy & Mandy out of it. I can't be critical of it after that.
There's also the fact that it can lead to meritocracy abuse - oh sure, it sounds good on paper because only shows that prove themselves critically (in a positive way), rather than just financially (which is common sense, much as most of us otherwise disagree...), would get to keep going. Problem is... Not everyone is going to like what's popular and will want alternatives, or at least something else to fall back on - meritocracy destroys any ability to do just that if a cartoon gets any number of negative reviews thrown at it.
I know what I'm saying does not factor in here, but it can when given the opportunity, courtesy of mob mentality determining what's good and what's not, due to how popular it is, rather than allowing for constructive criticism and opinions to flourish. Only the popular shows get any airtime, while the ones that aren't, despite having people that do like, or even love these less popular shows, get cancelled, killing any sort of variety or choices of what to watch to fall back on when people grow tired of the popular thing and want something else.

New Web Browser, same old Shokew. Are there a bunch of horses in this thread? 'Cuz all I'm hearing are a bunch of neigh-sayers!
Nope, just saying you cannot make an entire show of this.
Well, I guess we'll never know.
I still firmly believe that this had potential, and if I remember correctly, actually made 2nd place.
The art style is really cool, (at least I think so.) and I'm one of the few people who would be fine if KND was never picked up. I don't hate it, just apathetic. Would've liked to have seen what other wacky antics Kitty Bobo would've taken part in. But alas, it was not meant to be.
Hopefully something works out for the dude who made it.

Shoo her in, Effie darling, shoo her in.You remember correctly.
I feel like it only ranked as highly as it did because of the animation style. I remember as a kid I thought its art style was cool and loved it as a result. Thinking back, the pilot was kinda weak, and most of its jokes (ha ha, cell phones are a thing!) were even overused by that point.
Anyone know who worked on the short and what they went on to do? EDIT: holy crap, Dante Basco voiced the title character? I didn't remember that at all.

Insert witty 'n clever quip here.To be honest, part of the reason I liked it is because I thought Kitty Bobo had a cool voice.
Fair point, but I think the main joke was Kitty Bobo thinking that having a cell phone made him cool. It's not so much that cell phones are thing, but that Kitty Bobo is a square.
A huge square.
Shoo her in, Effie darling, shoo her in.Even still, they did that by using a bunch of overdone jokes about cell phones (e.g. asshole on the phone in the movie theater).
I do feel like with better writing, it could've been a decent slice-of-life show, but even most good shows I've seen with bad pilots have pilots with a little more effort put into the writing.
Insert witty 'n clever quip here.I can't really relate. In my experience, most pilots suck. Even good shows often need some time to find their stride.
Anybody else bummed out that this wasn't picked up for a series? https://youtu.be/0k6Xwg_lhuQ Could've been a fun time, man.
