That quest is broke as hell, I honestly don't bother.

Did you mine all-new ore? That may also be it.

Yeah. you have to actually mine that many pieces of ore after taking the quest. Ore you already have doesn't count.

[up]I learned that the hard way yesterday when I saw two bulletins like that. I eventually figured out that I was supposed to go to the mine first when the counter wouldn't go up after I brought my spare copper out of storage.

Unless they changed it in a recent patch, ore from storage should work. You just have to take them out one at a time with the right mouse button instead all at once.

You don't need to mine the ore new, just drop the stack on the ground and then pick it up again. The only trouble I ever had handing it in was when I tried to do it over the counter instead of going around the back. It does have the gift icon when you hand it in, but he always triggered the quest completion and I got to keep the ore.

Concerned Ape is considered not only letting players marry Shane and Linus, but also allowing players to marry Robin by breaking up her family.

I'd much prefer Shane over Linus. And I'd never consider breaking up a family. I don't mean to say 'Don't do harsh things', but I feel like that'd clash with the overall light feeling of the game and would have significant reprecussions to multiple characters and just over all be too much to do for one romance that I've yet to see anyone asking for.

Just picked up this game yesterday and I'm almost halfway thru summer but I still feel like I'm playing wrong. I just got a single bar of iron to make a sprinkler but it doesn't seem to work? Do I need to do something to the sprinkler aside from setting it down?

The game is pretty bad at conveying information to you. I figured out that a silo would auto-loot n hold my stuff for me but it didn't make it clear that I needed to take the wheat out to my chickens so I have a couple very tee'd off hens atm.

Oh! and romance. I didn't realize some quests would be gated by friendships. I have been running around after watering my blueberries stuffing radishes and random topazes n shit into peoples gullets.

The game is quite slow in the early months. You should start to feel more comfortable come Winter. The sprinklers work automatically but only waters adjacent squares so placement needs to be;

CCC

CXC

CCC

for maximum efficiency. The upgraded iridium sprinkler covers two squares.

Man is ore progression weird. lvl 60-80 "here's like a single gold ore piece for every 5 lvls" 81 "here's literally 25 gold within walking distance of the exit"

So I've got some quality sprinklers up, a half dozen or so crop circles don't need to worry about in the morning is super helpful.

Seeing as winter is coming up I should be transitioning towards getting a big barn, correct? I can't foresee there being much in the way of crops for winter. I need a bunch of animal products for the bundles anyway.

There are not crops for Winter. Only Animal stuff if you have them by then and foraging stuff. I'm not sure if orchards turn out products but that's because I'm a bit behind in trying those.

A lot of your time in your first winter will generally be spent pushing through non-growing activities: mining, fishing, lumberjacking/forging, building, etc. When it was me I also hoarded fall produce to put into preserving jars/kegs (this generally doubles or tripples the sale price). They patched animals to be more valuable since when I was at that point but they require advance prep not just in barn/coop building but in hay (grass doesn't grow in winter so if you run out you have to buy it from Marnie and that eats into profit). You can let them go hungry and they won't die but they won't produce either.

Also, if you haven't gotten into fruit trees yet, you can plant your spring trees (and any others really) in winter and they will grow (but not produce).

There is one thing that you can plant in winter.

Winter Forage seeds. Granted they aren't the highest quality fruits, but they make good money.

Foraging seeds? Interesting. It'll at least give me something to do with my cleared farm space.

Should I be going all butcher pete on the grass now then or if I clear out all the grass will it not respawn come spring?

Can animals be moved from one coop/barn to another? The delux barn mentions "birthing capabilites" but doesn't elaborate. If there's space in the barn and two of the right species do they just uh...

Are the fruit trees worth it? They had a pretty big opening price tag and being seasonal ain't great. I was thinking if I got delux barn and stocked it with cows and used the cheese press it would be a tidy profit. Even assuming paying for hay each morning (and assuming 1 hay to a cow each day) I'd break even in 34 days.

I haven't run the numbers on the other critters but they actually look like a worse deal with maybe the exception of the goat. pigs especially. 16,000 vs 850 daily is like 20ish days to pay for itself. vs 9 with a cow.

If you check the bundle requirements, you'll want at least 1 of each animal, and several of the fruit trees. The trees only provide fruit in season, but they are a permanent investment that will last as many years as you choose to keep them. If conditions are right, animals can just randomly get pregnant on their own, without even another member of their species nearby.

I'll eventually need every animal, aye, but right now I'm more focused on getting a steady cash flow going. As it stands I either have to wait for my crops to come in or go fishing to make any real profit and that severely hampers my ability to build stuff.

So I wandered into my greenhouse today and the crops were rustling like they do when something moves through them, except the dog was still outside.

Has anyone else come across this? Some sort of bug or do I have ghosts?

Blueberries are useful in the first year if you want to work on farming in the fall (beyond what's needed for the crop bundles). 968g per season per plant isn't the kind of powerprofit that you get from pale ale (and blueberries are worthless as artisan fodder) but the advantage is that you get it immediately instead of needing an artisan infrastructure, and you can put that money to work buying cranberry and pumpkin seeds.

OTOH, you may have better things to do with your fall, such as spelunking, and you might only be farming the fall for the bundles. Then significant blueberry crops make significantly less sense.

I despise hypocrisy, unless of course it is my own.
