tl;dr version is that half the cast have been shanghaied by a Rebel cell that fancies itself as the heir to the Old Republic (uniforms and equipment included) lead by a Jedi Knight who survived the purge by virtue of not having been surrounded by clones.
And the other half are currently trying to escape the station said rebel cell just captured and getting shot at for their trouble. Their next destination might be the best place to pick up a new party member
