This trope has a lot of problems. And I mean A LOT. For one, it tries to imply that influential = good, which is not true at all. Something that's infuential can be considered terrible, while a Cliche Storm can be considered quite good.

Second, the definition of the trope (Something that was new isn't new anymore) is WAY too omnipresent to be a trope. Something doesn't stay new forever. Plus, something new that is copied often already exists with Trope Codifier, Trope Maker, or Ur-Example.

Third: The second definition of the trope (Something was infuential but isn't enjoyable anymore) has too much overlap with Deader Than Disco. Plus, as said before, innovative doesn't equal enjoyable.

Fourthly, even that definition fails. Most of these things are VERY much well received. If Classic Simpsons, Classic Sonic The Hedgehog, and The Ren And Stimpy Show aren't well recieved, nothing is. No one can look me straight in the eye and say no one likes them anymore.

In conclusion, this trope needs MAJOR work. I suggest either...

A: Change the definition.

B: Cut and Lock

Or C: Give it a space in the Permanent Red Link Club.

I think this will work well because of the massive definition problems, bad examples, and general omnipresence of the subject.
