"I don't know any of you very well, but I'm guessing a friend of this Commander Shepard is going to be a friend of mine." Juun replied before introducing himself as he said, "My name's Juun'Reyan nar Raezzor, and the council hired me because of my skills with ship and system repairs."

Garrus responded to Chevek,"Chevek...... I could have sworn I saw your name before. I can't remember where though. And yes, I was a former C-Sec officer before joining Shepard. I was serving as an anti Re.... Geth researcher and a peace keeper before being asked to join the task force. I was working with General Zytex beforehand though. Anyways, nice to meet you.". He turned to Juun,"Well hello there. As you've probably heard, I worked with a Quarian during my time fighting Saren. Last I heard, she was coming to the Citadel. Nice to have you. Hope we can get you Quarians some greater respect with this task force. My time fighting Saren taught me many things, such as respecting other races.".

Juun'Reyan continued inspecting the fridge for food that his system could actually process. While he had been practically raised on ration bars that tended to have little to no flavor, his occasional memory of food that actually had taste caused him to hope that there was something besides a grainy, bland mush of edible matter, hinting that his tastebuds weren't completely numb to flavoring.

Zytex was talking to a group of task force officials when he got a call from Councilor Anderson over his communicator. "I'm sorry. I have a call to take.", Zytex apologized to the group he was talking to. He walked away a bit to a less crowded area and responded with formal respect,"Yes, Councilor Anderson? What do you require?".

Anderson spoke calmly through his the communication,"General Zytex, we of the Council have been discussing something. We're going to reassign someone to active duty right away.".

Zytex was somewhat confused and concerned, but nonetheless retained his composure,"Who would that be, Councilor? And to what role would you assign them? And there's the fact I need most, if not every person in the task force currently at this first meeting. We both know how important it is, Councilor.".

Anderson sighed and then returned to his calm self,"I know, General. But we think this is important and we'd like you to carry this out. We Councilors want Spectre and Commander Samuel Shepard in a spy/informant role for the task force.". Upon hearing Shepard was going to be reassigned, Zytex had sense of disappointment, though he did not relay it. "We thought that he'd be a good fit for the role. I know this is a disappointment to you General as I know you wanted to work with the Commander. Still, we think think this is the best course of action. And we haven't lost all knowledge of what really happened with Saren and the Geth. We still have people like you, your friend Ms. Seleya, and most of Shepard's old squad. I'll be sending the message to Shepard personally after this. We just want you yo know what's going on in our task force, General.", Anderson continued.

Zytex still had a tinge of disappointment, but kept his respectful composure,"Thank you for telling me this, Councilor. Do you think Shepard will ever return to mainline duty with us, or will he be kept in this position most of the time for the task force's existence? Also, expect me to relay the information of our first official meeting to Shepard anyways. He has a right to know.".

Anderson responded,"The plan was to relay information to Shepard anyways. And about your other question about Shepard doing other roles but this one; we will have to discuss this. I wouldn't put it past us to change out minds at times and have him return to mainline duty. And General, Shepard will continue taking control of the Normandy to run most of his operations. It's stealth systems will be invaluable for that role. However, I will be placing Lieutenant Kaidan Alenko and Doctor Liara T'Soni under your command and removing them from Shepard's command. Expect to hear from them soon. Goodbye, General.". Anderson said as the communication was cut.

Zytex stood for a brief moment contemplating what Anderson had said before returning to what he was doing.

No sooner has Shepard noticed his old buddy Garrus, he received a call from Anderson. Anderson told him about his new role as a spy/informant in the task force effective immediately, that Shepard would still retain control over the Normandy, that Kaidan and Liara would be under Zytex's control, that Zytex knew about this, that the position could be changed in the future, and more. Shepard quickly told Garrus what was going on before saying goodbye, packing up his stuff (including his fish and katana), going to his quarters to pack up, and going to the Normandy.

"Okay, goodbye Shepard....", Garrus said dishearteningly as Shepard left. Garrus had no idea if the others had noticed what happened. Didn't even really get to talk to the bastard. Dammit., Garrus thought to himself.

(speaking that where Shepard can change roles quickly depending on if a player picks him back up, this will be awkward dealing with him. Still, I find it a better compromise when Shep is a NPC. Any player of Shepard does not have to be in this spy role if they do not want to and I don't say they have to. It's just a way of dealing with NPC Shep.)

((Firing a shot in the dark here, plus I couldn't remember if quarians in this rewritten universe could remove part of their helmets without getting ill because of terribad immune systems.)

By this time Juun'Reyan eventually found something to satisfy his hunger, although it wasn't exactly food. He ended up settling for a blended dietary shake that was flavored with dextro-chocolate. Even though he didn't often taste anything with flavor that wasn't bland to have much of a palette, he knew he wasn't a big fan of this one in particular. He figured it was better than nothing though, opening the can, and somehow managing to use the straw that came with it and fitting it in his faceplate's mouthpiece.

"Shepard's leaving I see? I didn't even get to know him..." Juun couldn't help but comment after noticing Shepard's absence.

(as long as it's done in moderation and in a relatively controlled environment, it shouldn't be a problem. We're on the Citadel, in a higher class apartment made for a Quarian though. Don't expect to this everywhere and expect there not to be consequences. But yeah, I very sure he's fine here, esp. for the afore mentioned reasons and the fact that Rewrite Quarian immune systems are at ME 1 levels, not BW ME 2 and 3 levels.)

"Well, I know the guy well and he mostly took off on me without really talking. Still, the bastard knows what he's doing. I trust him. We'll hear from him again, I know it.", Garrus said. He was about to continue when got a message over his communicator.

"Garrus, it's me, Liara.", the Asari said over the communicator. "I'm with Kaidan. We heard the news about Shepard and about us being transferred to be directly under Zytex like yourself. We're on the Citadel and are on our way to the task force's living quarters. We'll be with you in a bit.".

Garrus looked perked up at the sound of his old friends,"Glad to hear from you Liara. It's going to be nice seeing you two i the flesh again, even if it's only been a small while since we last saw each other in person. I'd catch up with you over the communicator, but I have other people here I'm hanging out with. They're new faces, but they're all task force like us. Anything you wanted to say before we cut comms?".

Kaidan chuckled over the communicator,"Making new friends, eh Garrus? Seems like you have a slight knack for that. Anways, have heard from Tali and how she's going to take to get here? It'd be nice to see her again. Also, have heard anything about Wrex? I don't think anyone from the old group knows what happened to him after he left the Normandy.".

Garrus turned his mandibles into smiling position and said with glee,"Oh, there you go again Kaidan.". Garrus quickly turned more relaxed,"Last I heard, Tali was catching a ride to the Citadel along with a bunch of other Quarians that General Zytex recruited. She's should be fine as she's with Zytex's people, but we all know that Tali can easily handle herself. About Wrex, I haven't heard anything either. Maybe the General knows, but he's not telling any of us. That it?".

Liara said over the communicator,"Yes, that should be Garrus. As I said, we'll be there in a bit. Also, thanks for the information. Goodbye". She then cut comms.

"See you later.", Garrus said. He turned to Juun and Chevek,"As you might have heard, some of my old squadmates will be coming here, in light of what just happened with Shepard. I think you'll like to meet them. Now, do you guys want to do anything fun?". Garrus looked expectantly at the Quarian and Batarian.

Kahlief was walking down one of the hallway until he saw a batarian standing in one of the doorway.

"Why are you standing there?" He asked the batarian. The batarian then said "A Vorcha? It'll be good to have another species with a bad reputation."

"Bad reputation?" he asked the batrian.

"Most other species view batarians and vorcha as warmongers." The batarain said.

"According to whoever comes up with these stereotypes, Vorcha are also pretty conniving con artists when they aren't in the mood for beating money out of anyone physically. Then again whoever believes that also thinks quarians aren't much better when it comes to scamming people, between the both of us we should be able to make plenty of credits ripping people off..." Juun couldn't help but chime in facetiously before finishing the dietary beverage he didn't care for.

After carelessly tossing it into the garbage, he later said in a more serious tone, "But since I'm pretty sure we're real people who don't fit into offensive stereotypes, we're all going to be doing things much more...honorable for lack of a better word."

Then the vorcha said "I don't know, I've only learned asari and vorcha history. Do any of you know what he is talking about?"

"Okay, okay. Everyone calm down. There's no reason to get upset about racial issues. I admit I still have problems with it, but my time with Shepard taught me a few things. Also, from what I hear, the General is far less tolerant of racism and would like it eradicated, at least in this task force.", Garrus said trying to be the voice of reason. He turned to Kalief,"Let's just say the Humans and Batarians have a troubled history, especially when it comes to slavery. The Quarians have their own separate reputation with the history. They're despised for creating the Geth, having a war with them, and then having a roaming fleet. There's a lot more to all of it, but I don't know all the details and what I said serves as a good base.".

(you think I'm nailing down Garrus right? I don't think so that much, but feel free to give feedback. Also, except for the important people, I'm suspecting task force's quarters are all made for one person. More like multiple to save on resources and space. So Chevek, Kahlief, Juun, Tali, and others might be getting roomates of generic NP Cs, if not each other if you want.)

(time for everyone's favorite canon Quarian)

Tali'Zorah was waiting the Turian freighter. Zytex had arranged for her and several other Quarians Zytex had recruited from the Migrant Fleet to meet some of Zytex's people at a designated Turian low key colony. The Quarians would take a small detachment of ships from the Migrant Fleet and drop off the Quarians at the colony. Zytex's people would then pick up Tali's group in a Turian freighter and then take them to the Citadel. Zytex's people would then escort them to their needed places. Tali was nervous, but eager to see her old friends and start to do something meaningful about the Reaper menace.

"This is the Captain speaking.", the Turian Captain of the ship said over the ship's comms. "General Zytex and Citadel Control has just cleared us to dock at the Citadel. All Quarian passengers are heavily advised to stay with us as we will be able to get you to where we need you relatively safely and soundly.". There was a pause before the Captain spoke again,"Okay, we are docked, please group up and wait for us to deal with C-Sec.". The Turians onboard rounded up the Quarians into groups, albeit in a gentle and non-condescending way. Tali got into a group and waited to get onto the Citadel. She had of course been on the station before, knew some of its layout, and could handle herself; but with tensions running high after the Geth's attack on the Citadel, she figured she could use any advantage she could get. The Captain spoke again,"We have dealt with C-Sec, please exit in your groups and get on the buses we have for you. They will take you to the task force's living quarters, which will be yours for the duration of your stay on the Citadel in preparation for our first meeting. Have a nice day.".

"Good day, yeah. The captain of this ship seems to mean well, but I doubt a lot of the bosh'tets of this 'great' station care for us 'suited freaks'.", a Quarian in Tali's group said in a negative way. Tali just kept walking with the group, not saying anything.

"It should be better once we start doing missions. The General said he wanted this task force to be a cooperative, multiracial group capable of looking past racial barriers. But I am worried what will happen when we're not on missions.", another Quarian said.

"The General is only one man. He's not representative of the main view on our race in the galaxy and cannot hope to enforce such a rule in the task force. Plus there's the chance he has a dark side to him.", yet another Quarian said.

"Oh, I'm sure we'll be treated like shit while off missions, if not on them. If we win this, it won't make us much if any more liked by the galaxy at large. You'll have the Citadel races standing proud while us 'lesser races' get forgotten. Sure you have people like the General who seem to care about us as actual people, but the majority hate us. Really, the only reason I even took this offer was to beat those Geth monsters and because the General's offer was too good to pass up.", the first Quarian said.

A Turian guard in the group said in a friendly but ordering voice,"Please keep it down. We already created a big commotion getting you people in. We would like to not have anymore, or at least keep them to a minimum. For all of our sakes.".

"Bosh'tet....", the second Quarian said under their breath.

Tali finally spoke up, but about something different. "Once we get on our bus, can I communicate with someone? I can keep it private, but it's important.", she asked the guards.

"We'll talk about it on the bus, Miss.", another Turian guard said. Tali was bit annoyed at the comment, but at the same time a bit fearful of reprisal.

Once the group stepped on the bus, the doors closed, and it took off, the guard that spoke to Tali pulled the Quarian aside. "You're that Quarian that wanted to speak to someone? Come here. Let's talk about it.", the guard said.

"Are you mad with me?", Tali asked as she walked over to the guard.

"Not at all. I just would like to know who you want to talk to and why. Just keeping track of our traffic", the guard said.

"I just want to speak with some old friends of mine. I know they're members of the task force and at least one is onboard the Citadel. It'd be nice to tell them I'm here.", Tali responded in a neutral tone.

"I guess it can't hurt. Just keep the traffic down.", the guard said as they walked away.

Tali tapped onto her ominitool's communicator and attempted to make contact with Garrus, Shepard, Kadian, and/or Liara.

(I'll continue this later. Especially to avoid an even larger wall of text.)

(Well if I can actually imagine reading Garrus' lines in his voice, I think you're doing a fairly good job at it. Of course I kind of always pictured him as the de facto second-in-command whenever I played the Mass Effect trilogy, so there could be some bias. All I really remember about him was that he was the kind of person who's mind was usually in the right place, and doesn't so much care about doing things the right way as long as they're done for the right reasons.)

"I guess I got a little carried away..." Juun'Reyan reluctantly admitted, unconsciously brushing one of his arms off while looking at the floor. "As for your earlier question about fun, I don't really know what anyone here likes to do. I don't have a lot of money on me, but if anyone has any vid games or omni-tool cards I'm up for it." He later said.

"As impractical as walking tanks are, it doesn't make the War Machine games any less fun. It's pretty obvious where they got their story's inspiration from...but that just makes it easier for me to relate to." Juun commented as he browsed the entertainment section of his omni-tool. Garrus was going to respond to the others' conversation when he got another call,"Sorry guys, I got another call". He answered it and said and lightened up when he saw who was communicating with him,"Yes? Garrus here. What do you need, you little rascal?".

"Hey Garrus, as you can see, it's me Tali.", the Quarian said over the communicator. "We arrived on the Citadel and are coming the task force's living quarters. Are Kaidan, Liara, Shepard, or anyone else with you for that matter? I contacted them but they don't seem to be responding.".

Liara and Kaidan got the call and responded after what Tali said with happiness,"Liara and Kaidan here. We got your call Tali and we're on our way to the quarters. Nice to hear from you again.".

Garrus responded,"I'm at the task force's quarters with some other people in the task force. We're just hanging out while I was waiting for Liara and Kaidan. Shepard was here, but he had to leave. I'll explain it to later.".

Tali had a tinge of sadness to her voice but otherwise had a happy tone in her voice,"That's a shame about Shepard. Wouldn't be reunion without him. Still, it's so nice to hear from all you again. So are we catching up now or later?".

Kaidan spoke up,"Garrus's plan was to catch up later, at least when we get to where he's at.".

Garrus responded,"Yes, that was the plan.".

"And I would like to meet these new people as well. Will they still be there when we arrive?", Liara asked.

"That was the plan. I'm sure we'd all like to get acquainted.", Garrus responded.

"Okay. Sounds like a good plan. I'm not sure these guards on this bus appreciate me talking as much as I am, but I don't know. Anyways, goodbye for a bit.", Tali said.

"Roger that Tali, bye.", Kaidan said.

Garrus was the last to respond,"Bye old friends. See you soon.". All the old squadmates then cut comms. Garrus then said to the group in Juun's quaters,"Well I got another old friend coming now as well. I hope you get to meet them as well.". He then looked Juun in faceplate where Juun's eyes would be,"Didn't know you where so popular, kid.".

(If it's all necessary, then I can't really complain. Also I apologize in advance, but I tend to have fun creating fiction within fiction. Fortunately I don't drag aspects of it out too much.)

"I'm no more popular than the average Quarian..." Juun replied in a way that sounded both modest and slightly oblivious. He leaned over to peer at the screen being generated by his detached omni-tool and later grabbed a controller that materialized next to it before sitting down on a nearby couch. The omni-tool then finished loading Mecha War Machine, which despite being popular enough to receive three sequels to improve upon a developing story, was not without its annoying bugs. It didn't help matters that the opening cutscene wasn't able to be skipped until 20 seconds passed, which told a minimalist story about a mysterious race of machines that came out of nowhere and caused mass destruction on the surface of a planet inhabited by a race that took clear inspirations from the Quarians, save for the fact that they weren't entirely accurate and came across more as humans. Said "aliens" retaliated by stealing and reverse-engineering some of the invader robot's deadliest technologies, most noticeably the giant tanks on legs called mechas. When it came to the design of the "aliens", the developers tried to reason that it was because they were trying to go for artistic license, when in reality its majority of human developers didn't bother to do the research and defaulted to aspects of human culture more often than not.

"If you ask me, the story wasn't very good until the third game Super Mecha War Machines 2: Revived and Reloaded." Juun commented as he navigated through the main menu and selected Multiplayer in case anyone else was interested. He could have sworn Chevec at the very least might have wanted to try.

"Sure why not? Just tell me the game mode and I'll have it set up. I'm personally up for either Deathmatch or Wave Survival. Would have preferred Base Destruction, but they didn't add that until the second game Super Mecha War Machine." Juun replied as he began pressing buttons and joysticks to set up his walking tank. He soon settled for a 20-foot medium-class mecha with chicken walker legs that looked like it came out of a scrapyard sale, however it was designed with functionality over aesthetics in mind with the only regards to style being its light beige hull with yellow trim.

After Kaidan and Liara had gotten their room locations and keys, they contacted Garrus to see where he was. "Garrus, we're here at the desk, can you please tell us where to find you?", Liara asked her friend over the communicator.

"Yeah, I'm sending you the location now. Hope to see you soon. Is Tali with you two?", Garrus asked as he sent the information.

"She's not with us, but as you know she's on her way. Anyways, thanks Garrus. We'll be there shortly.", Kaidan said as he cut comms. "It's going to be nice to have most of the old squad back.", Kaidan said with nostalgia.

"Indeed it shall.", Liara said in response. She then walked towards Juun's apartment.

Garrus was quietly watching Chevek and Juun playing their game when he noticed two people, an Asari and Human, walk into the room. He made a face that looked like a big smile and and exclaimed,"Well, look who busted in! Nice to see you two!". Garrus then proceeded to shake the hands of Liara and Kaidan.

Liara smiled back and extended her hand to shake Garrus's,"Nice to see you Garrus. You look well.".

Kaidan also returned Garrus's handshake, smiled, and said,"Basically what Liara said. Nice to see you buddy.". He then pointed to the Quarian and Batarian playing games. "Who are they? Are these the people you've been talking about hanging out with?", Kaidan asked.

"Yes, they are. The Batarian goes by the name of Chevek and the Quarian is called Juun'Reyan.", Garrus said to his friends. He then yelled to Chevek and Juun,"Hey, guys! I have two of my old squadmates here. Kaidan Alenko is the Human and Liara T'soni is the Asari.".

(Tali will take a while to write up so I'm holding it off at the moment. Controlling so many characters can be a pain. And I have to play even more later on. Being a GM can be great, but being a halfway decent GM takes work.)

He then looked at Laira and said. "Ah doctor T'soni it is good to see you, I'm a fan of your work."
