A few years ago I went into an argument with someone in a Dragon Ball forum. He saw Goku as a real life hero and even tried to argue Goku was way manlier than marines who fought in the recent Iraqi war. I was instead and went into a big argument with them as I was a military brat at the time. He literally believed marines were PUSSIES in comparison to even Cell, one of the antagonists from the series.

A few months ago ago I was in a book store and I heard a discussion from from DC fans. They were basically saying that they see Green Lantern as their primary role model-even greater than George Washington!

Nearly 10 years ago when I was still in secondary school, when I was waiting in a bus I saw a girl yelling out to a friend out of the window, "Luke Skywalker died!". This girl from memory was a shrew. She slacks off in school and even did stupid stuff like posting a photo of her nipples on school walls. She even thinks watching Star Wars is a better way to spend time than watching documentaries of WW 2 veterans!

I recall she stated she thinks the soldiers fighting in Afghanistan during the time are a bunch of FUCKING morons (she literally said this) but she thinks Like Skywalker is badass and is her role model. She basically would rather spend money on Star Wars merchandise than support the troops.

In fact I notice in recent times in the West there is a bizarre tendency for many young Westerners to worship fictional characters as the embodiment of virtues and role model. But most of them don't even know national heroes such as George Washington or Elizabeth I!

It even goes as far as for people to even think lowly of heroes of our current generations such as British Royal Marines or firefighters.

YES I' m not lying there are far more teens and young adults who'd add Darth Vader or Sailor Moon as their role models on Facebook lists than Kemal Ataturk (the George Washington of Turkey) or Audey Murphy!

Its not just America. In France I seen more people who have Asterix the Gaul T-Shirts and stickers on their car and as posters on their rooms than Napoleon Bonaparte or De Lattre de Tasigne stickers or posters!

In the UK alone, you can find far more kids with Spiderman posters in their bedrooms or any posters about the Royal Airforce in their room or talk about the glory of Great Britain from the Victorian Era up until World War II. More kids follow Marvel Comics and DC than anything about the UK military and I'd bet 100 bucks no one in UK's adult population save for those who are enlisted or those from a family with a history of military enlistment could name an war heroes from Iraq or even locate existing military basis in the UK but almost all of them agree Doctor Who and James Bond are motherfucking badass (with at least half the current UK youth wishing they were like James Bond but have no wish to imitate the great soldiers who fought for the queen in World War 1).

I can name far more and go on and on! Does anyone else find it insulting kids today have the youth to call Darth Vader the epitome of manliness but don't even know who Pat Tillman is or that Prince Charles is currently serving in the Royal Army and had done heroic acts?

We don't do complaining threads, especially not these with broad brush thinly supported generalizations. Locking.
