So, Epic Games is teasing the HELL out of a new game. I think it's a shooter, and there is apparently five characters, one of whom got a teaser. Maybe they have class-based abilities. And they're having beta registration on the official site.

Speculation: Maybe it's like Overwatch?

Man I hope it's not just ANOTHER class based shooter. I mean shit, we already have Overwatch, Lawbreakers (Cliffy B's game), Battleborn, whatever Hi-Rez is making that they'll inevitably kill off a year after release and now this!

Hell, Epic already has a shooter in Unreal Tournament 2016 or whatever they're calling it now, and I would rather see Epic use their non engine staff for something besides "Hey let's make another FPS that will compete with our other FPS"

On second thought maybe it'll be a Spirtual Successor to Unreal 2 XMP or Unreal Championship 2....

I just want UT to be like the ORIGINAL UT. Man... playing against really intelligent bots on Phobos. Good times.

Maybe Paragon will be a Diablo-style action-RPG? :p

I haven't played Epic games since their platformer days. I still remember Jill of the Jungle and Jazz Jackrabbit. I'd love seeing those get the Mario treatment.

[up]You may or may not like the new UT then. It tried to keep the "scale" of UT 99 while trying to have some of the movement ideas from 2k4 with some other new ideas (they got rid of the ability to jump after a dodge like in 2k4 because it made projectile weapons too OP but added a Titanfall esque wallrun and crouchslide)

Overall I haven't played much of it (and I'll admit I'm more of a Quake guy than anything) but at least to me it seems to be the first UT that actually feels like a true sequel to the first one rather than some weird mod that changes a bunch of shit.

The Alpha is free so there's no reason to not get it if you want to play it early on. Mind you this is an ACTUAL alpha tho, so there's plenty of unfinished shit abound.

So I saw the gameplay and it looks like Gears of Smite, which isn't a bad thing but as far as "MOBA shooter by the dudes who made UT" Cliffy B's Lawbreakers still looks more interesting from what little I've seen of it if only because the movement is a lot faster and more interesting.

Still I'm wondering, why didn't Sony show the gameplay to end the conference rather than a cgi trailer?

Still I'm actually wondering how much like Gears this is gonna play? Like are they gonna replicate Gear's signature "rushing are corners with a shotgun is the best shit" balance or what?

Edit: Man the Ni no Kuni defense squad is already hating on this cause it went after it at the PS 4, lel.

Oh yeah here's the gameplay in question. Now that I think of it it's interesting that Epic is calling it a "MOBA" rather than a MOBA-shooter or a shooter with MOBA elements or a "third person MOBA" or anything like that. Just a straight up MOBA. Wonder why that is?

Because nothing in the acronym "MOBA" refers to RTS's. It's "Multiplayer Online Battle Arena".

[up]Ugh... just ugh. Why did you remind me that we're probably going to see half of the females appear several months from now in some half-baked fantasy sci-fi setting, only in skimpier clothes, and with a developer who ABSOLUTELY INSISTS his creations are 100% original?

original character, do not steal

The other 90% has to exist for the last 10% to be good, it's how the math works out
