Duelyst- A Fusion of Turn-based Strategy and CCG

There's this preeety neat game that's gone into beta recently called Duelyst, and it's essentially a cross between Hearthstone and Fire Emblem, with cards summoning minions onto a grid that you have to move into position. It also has great pixel art akin to something like Risk of Rain.

It's a pretty neat game, and although it's in closed beta from what I've heard it's incredibly easy to get a beta key; just PM the devs on their forum and they give you one in like 24 hours.

I was just wondering if anybody else was trying it out? I've noticed that there isn't a page for it yet.

This is in open beta now, so anyone can sign up. I've been trying it out and it's kind of fun. I'm not sure I can afford to invest time in another card game after Hearthstone though. There's nothing particularly wrong with its F 2 P model (in fact, it's almost exactly like Hearthstone in every way), but I do think it's a lot weaker as a spectator game. The graphics and UI just make it kind of difficult to figure out what's going on unless you're already familiar with most of the cards.

I have to agree on that; it's hard to recognize minions and cards in general at the first glance.

Same with collection; new cards are barely highlighted to see them. It's more of a personal complaint, but it's nothing too major.

And as for a game itself, it's fun. Slowly gathering basic cards. It can take a while to get used to the variety of keywords, but there's a tutorial for that. '3'

Might as well go and refresh this topic now that Duelyst has been out of the beta for a while now.

To summarize, Bloodborn Spells - think Hero Powers - are OP, Dioltas' leftover Tombstone can in fact move and the Songhai have a stupid amount of burst.

The game is still fun; there's been a few more basic cards added to make the game fair, plus there's been a number of nerfs and buffs to various cards. Primus Shieldmaster is now the Provoke minion and all it took was giving him +1 Attack, for one example.
