Hi everybody!

Have a bit of time for the foreseeable future, and wanted to see who might be interested in a Superdraft game.

What is Superdraft?

It's not quite a role-playing game, but has more formal rules than a forum game. Each player chooses a team based on specific criteria for that draft, effectively writing a story about it (actual story writing is good but not mandatory.) Then we vote on who did the best job.

Some basic rules:

  1. . Each player may make only one pick a day; if you want to make sure to get two characters that always go together, you may skip a day and try to pick them up at that point.
  2. . "Days" begin at a time set by the League Commissioner (the GM).
  3. . The first post with a particular character within the correct time frame gets the character. Expect to be sniped or ninja'd and plan accordingly.
  4. . If the character is found in more than one source, or otherwise has multiple versions, you must specify the version.

I thought we could start with the obvious, a superhero draft. Following are some special rules.

  1. . All choices must be from the superheroic genre. If you have to make special pleading for the story you're taking them from, it's not the superhero genre. (For example, Lois Lane is not normally a superhero, but is from the superhero genre Superman continuity, so she is okay. Great Saiyaman is clearly a superhero, but Dragonball Z is not in the superhero genre, so he is not allowed.)
  2. . Characters are locked by their civilian identity if any, rather than codename. For example, if you chose Robin (Dick Grayson) no one can pick Nightwing (Dick Grayson) but they could pick Robin (Tim Drake.)
  3. . You may pick a normally villainous character to be one of your heroes, and vice-versa.
  4. . Characters come with their normal carried gear and resources, not any one-time powers or gimmicks, or something they only have because of someone else you didn't draft.
  5. . You may pick an organization for a villain slot. Organizations come with their normal resources, and a large number of faceless minions. Named characters belonging to the organization can be sniped.
  6. . No real-life people, even if they have appeared in a superhero story. (Thinly-veiled parodies of real people are okay.)

The choice options are:

  • Location: Can be a real life city, but must be "as seen in" a particular work of the superhero genre. Locations are exclusive, and no more than three can be in the same country.
  • Heroes: You have six "hero" slots to fill to represent your team.
  • Villains: Two slots to represent the threats your team fights.
  • Options: Three slots which may be used for extra heroes, more villains, supporting characters, special items like the Infinity Glove, or a particular real life creator you wish to have for the comic book.
