Hey everyone,

Aspiring writer here who wanted to design video games but sucks at art. Used RPG Maker on the consoles and even 2000/2003 but never got anywhere with them. Now that MV (I'm a Mac user) is releasing in little more than two weeks, I'm hoping to fulfill a dream I had of designing a game. Anybody else use RPG Maker or plan on using it?

I'd like to at some point, but don't have the software and would pretty much be going in blind.

Also completely inept at art, by the way, though I may have some IRL connections that could help me get around that...

I'm preparing for MV's release, but I don't have anything concrete in the works yet.

I hope you get tiny bits of eggshell in all your omelettes for the rest of your life!

FYI, it's been inactive for a while but there's a more general game dev thread: https://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=13324921050A32805800

Won't I be ghosting? Lots of other forums frown upon posting in a topic that haven't been updated in months.

The "forum rules" thread covers the policy on necromancy, I believe (just search for "necro"); it's a little long to quote here in its entirety (it covers a few points), but concludes thus:

The only things close to rules that we have about necro'ing an old thread is "don't necro just for lulz" and "don't necro to continue a fight."

@Eva Unit 01: You could perhaps make use of royalty-free assets. In fact, given the similarities between various RPG Maker games, I wouldn't be surprised if that product came with some free sprites.

I've had extensive experience in RPG Maker 2000 and 2003. I've had some experience in XP and VX but not as much as I'd like in the latter. I'm interested to see what MV brings to the table. Sadly, I highly doubt my massive magnum opus I've been working on in RPG 2003 is going to convert well to MV. So I'm stuck finishing it off in 2003.
