Chapter update. Looks like the manga's doing the exact opposite of returning to comical territory.
Holy crap, so that dark elf really was the one from the paintings. Some people brought up the similarities but I thought it was just a coincidence...well, at least this explains why the dark elf could go "off-script" in the painting events. And so he's the sorcerer! I was expecting someone older. (Even Marcille says he's apparently a child by elf standards.)
And oh no, what did he do to Farlyn. She's only been resurrected for 2 chapters! (Unless the twist is that the soul here is completely the dragon's, and any of Farlyn's personality/memories she displayed were actually implanted from Marcille and/or the other party members' memories. That seems to make the prospect of properly resurrecting Farlyn even grimmer, though.)
On a cheerier note, Marcille's "oh god now there's two of them" reaction to Laius and Farlyn's antics last chapter was hilarious.
Does seem like Farlyn's got enough of the dragon in her that she counts as a dungeon monster.
Yeah, I figured that since her body is now like 80% dragon, mayhap some sort of compulsion that exists within the dungeon monsters got transferred to her.
Marcille, you've met with a terrible fate, haven't you.
And so it looks like the orc chief's request was even more biased in his favour than it initially seemed. Sneaky, sneaky.
Chillchack, your tsudere is showing. He does have a point about Farlyn's response to the explosion, though...as the party's main healer, perhaps jumping in front of the party to try to shield them wasn't the smartest thing for her to do. (Although, what was with that blood trail? Was that left by Farlyn-dragon crawling off or something?)
It's back! And it's as glorious as ever.
Funny faces, different take of a classic monster, good shenanigans. I miss these kinds of chapters.
Could use some salad right now...
Wasn't Chilchak like 100-something? And I'm pretty sure Marceille is older than the entire rest of the party combined. Seeing Senshi give Chilchak the birds and the bees talk while the other party is desperately trying not to listen was priceless.
Chilchack is 29, we found out about it in the Mimic chapter.
The thing about Marcille's age is weird. She commented that "29 is a kid", but she was in the same school as Farlyn, and there she looked noticably younger.
Maybe elves is the "grow up to teenager, then young adult forever" variety in this setting?
Hanging out with Laius and Farlyn all the time may have prematurely aged her.

An artbook titled Daydream Hour 2 by Kui Ryoko, the author of Dungeon Meshi, just got scanlated. In the artbook, she reveals some trivia about the races and characters in Dungeon Meshi and her love of food and fashion.
Also a really cute gnome bit.
Secret SignatureReally love seeing her creative process. She puts a lot of thought and detail into the characters. No same-face syndrome here.
Not just no same-face; she went ahead and detailed distinct facial features within races. Pretty neat.
Definitely a welcome change after so many artists who only know how to draw maybe six distinct faces, and the Japanese and Americans look exactly the same.
Chilchack is 29, depending on which source they are using for Halflings/Hobbits the average lifespan is either 120 or 220.
If we set 80 as the average human lifespan (done to make the math easier since this a rough estimate anyway) that means a halfling year is 0.666 or 0.3636 years to a human year.
So Chilchack is between 19 to 11 years old if transferred to human equivalents.
Marcella is less clear, though she can't be more than a young adult equivalent if she was attending school with Farlyn. In fact, I'd probably guess at her being the equivalent of 16 to 19 years in human age. So she's probably between 70 and 90 years old. (Assuming the 400 years old age usually given to elves that lack immortality.)
We know that Laius is younger than Chilchack (since he refers to Chilchack using polite pronouns once he learns his age). Not sure if we get anything specific any where, but I tended to put him in his early 20s. So I'd guess 21 to 24.
If Farlyn is 18 or so, that would make her three to six years younger than her older brother, so that probably means Laius is on the younger side of that age range.
So my guess on their ages would be:
Senshi: Around 200 years old (equivalent of a man in his 40s assuming a 400 year life for dwarves)
Namari (the dwarf former party member): Around 140 years old (equivalent of a woman in her 20s)
Marcelle: Around 90 years old (equivalent of a young woman about 18 years old)
Chilchack: 29 years old (equivalent of young man around 17)
Sureau (the samurai): A man in his early 20
Laius: About 21 years old
Farlyn: About 18 years old
Interesting new chapter about Kabru's party.
Apparently he's a bit cynical and assumes the worst in people. So he's always been suspicious of Laius and Farlyn assuming they are hiding something behind their too good to be true outside.
Also, we get to meet Sureau's new party.
I added Kabru's party to the DungeonMeshi page
Kabru just pisses me off. I don't understand his logic.
He has a negative view on other people by default. His logic is that Laius and Farlyn are secretly funding the black market, instead of them simply being fooled.
He definitely has more experience with humans than monsters. I guess he had plenty opportunities see how much bastards they are...
And in this chapter.
Wherein Marcille teaches Laius restorative magic. I can't see THAT going wrong anytime soon... right?
Also Marcille getting petrified in the silliest pose imaginable.
New chapter!
So we have a rather casual encounter with Surreau, Laius, and Kabron's parties... Which then goes tense once Laius reveals to Surreau how Farlyn was resurrected. And what looks like a Farlyn merged with... something else, is now nearby...
Oh dear, that certainly made a turn for the serious there, didn't it?
So Laius thinks the Sorcerer is mad at them for stealing painting food...that's just so Laius. And I like how Kabru almost immediately realizes Laius is just a big dork, instead of anything malicious.
Given that Farlyn/the dragon have been completely melted down into blood by this point, I wouldn't really consider any of her forms to be especially meaningful. She's just some kind of shape-shifting monster.
So I heard about this manga a whole lot but didn't have any plan to read this. However, recently I got interested in Isekai Shokudou and well, this manga does seem to have kinda sorta similiarities with that one.
Oh, and this page utterly cracked me up◊ even though I had no context (although the context shown in the page does seem enough). So yes, I'm definitely picking this up soon.
I'm a (socialist) professional writer serializing a WWII alternate history webnovel.
Yen Press has licensed the manga for english release!
