If I am understanding this correctly, Alternate DVD Commentary is something produced by a third party as a derivative work. If so, then it would only be used as a trope if we had an article for the derivative work or its creators.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Basically Rifftrax, on the Rifftrax page.
If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? But we'd also put it on the work if the same creators were the "third party" who produced the track, such as the Sing-Along-Blog commentary.
It is a derived work, in the same way a review might be considered "derived".

If the creators of the work also provided a gag commentary, then it would be a main-page example.
"It's Occam's Shuriken! If the answer is elusive, never rule out ninjas!"Um, why do you specifiy Gag commentary? Is there a different trope for gag commentary and Alternate DVD Commentary?

Alternate DVD Commentary is defined as a commentary track that is produced to be appreciated alongside of the original work, despite not being packaged with the work itself. Like a Strategy Guide, the product is incomplete without access to the original work.
