[up]Damn, so they are going to do a Halo 2 and leave the entire plot hanging (at least that's what happened in the gane from what I heard), makes sense since it seems this entire show was buildup and padding for the future.

Oshutoru dying is a given, he's firmly in too cool to live, Kuon figuring out Haku isn't her dad isn't really a issue in my opinion, don't think she herself thinks that, as Haku is the complete opposite of him, as for what will happen, they'll escape to the Oshutoru's country with the princess and prepare to retake the nation. With next game/show will have them in alliance with the nomads and Kuon's country, Dekoponpo will probably be the first boss wink Maybe even finally cure the Cursed humans, Hakuoro really dropped the ball with that one.

The princess is a big woobie when I think about it, her surrogate mother is either dead or captured, the one man nice to her will (most likely) be dead and her entire existence is just a replacement to a real person that the emeror actually cared about.

Hakuoro didn't 'drop the ball' by cursing the humans, Hakuoro was absolutely losing his shit and going berserk so hard that his mind literally split in two before his body was physically split to match it. That's well beyond the level of a mere accident.

[up]Yeah, but you would expect him to at least realize that he's killing a lot of innocents who have nothing to do with what happened. We can justify that he didn't think straight at that time but the results are horrific.

He probably did realize. Again, horrible mental trauma that split his mind in two.

That was a damn beautiful last episode, called the twist rather fast but it's still effective. The music in the start was gorgeous.

As for the the series, it wasn't bad, but was a big disappointment from the first show, it felt padded but bizzarely I don't feel like I knew most characters too well which is a shame since some characters have a lot of potential. Hopefully they'll learn from their mistakes when Uta 3 comes out, maybe a steam release in the west if there's a god. There is a good setup of reinstituting the princess and finally curing the slimes.

Anyways, Kuon is best girl and being Nekone is suffering.

Okay, so Utawarerumono (the 2006 show) was coming up soon in my anime PTW queue. But first I have to ask, should this one (the 2015 show) be considered a second (very belated) season of the 2006 show, or a spinoff? This may sound irrelevant, but it has implications regarding how I schedule my PTW, so I'd like to know what the consensus is.

Also, are we to expect a third show to materialize? (I gather there exists a third game already.)

It is a sequel roughly 20 or so years after the end of the first one on a different locale of the same world with a mostly different cast though later on we see a lot of familiar faces. I do expect a third season may manifest at some point.

If I'm sure of something it's that I'm not sure of anything.

Sequel. You're expected to know all the twists from the first season already. You see a major spoiler critter in the first episode alone.

I understand it's a chronological sequel, but I mean, like, is it considered a continuation. You know, like how Fate/Stay Night 2014 is a chronological sequel to Fate/Zero, or Railgun is a sort-of-prequel to Index, but they're considered separate stories despite sharing a universe like that.

By no means would I watch Uta 2015 before Uta 2006, I just want to know if I should regard them together for the purposes of 'I watched this show'.

There are returning characters and you won't know who the main heroine is and in a way not really the MC either if you haven't already seen the first show. I think I'd probably consider it more of a continuation, only mostly focusing on The Next Generation.

I dunno if I'd go that far. I only watched the second series and I didn't have a hard time following or understanding things at all.
