Poor Image: Delicious Distraction

This page went through IP a while back but didn't produce any results. The current image does not properly show the trope, as it shows no distraction from anything.

Suggestions:

• From Jitsu wa Watashi wa, top 4 panel here. It's read right-to-left, but with minimal text it should be easily editable.
• From Daily Lives of High School Boys, two panels here. If it doesn't show enough, we can add the top two panels from the previous page on top.

The first, I'm not sure will look good at wiki size. The second could possibly work.

Compared to the suggestions in the old thread (that I started, for the current not being illustrative), that looks like an improvement.

So after flipping to read from left-to-right (although I left the panels with the high schooler unflipped, mostly so the katakana doesn't get reversed but also because it'd read the same regardless), it'd look something like this:

I think that's too long—if it takes that many panels to get the trope across, we're better off with other options.

I don't mind it, although I think losing the first two panels wouldn't necessarily hurt it.

^ They don't mean anything to a majority of readers (which are either first language or second language English users), hence they only serve to distract.

They're not distracting me, and I don't even know what they mean (beyond being something like "toss" from context). This is really splitting hairs.

Here's just the last two panels:

I do not find them distracting. (This is a funny topic of conversation, given the trope name.)

That's because they are not Hostess Fruit Pies.

For the record, I don't find them annoying but I would like to now what they mean (if they mean anything).

I don't find it distracting either.

Looked it up; apparently it's something basic like "woosh".

It's "ba" on here.

No distraction from the characters from me, either.

Yeah. I see the characters running after some sweets, but not that the food distracted them from anything.

I don't think that's what he was saying ("the characters" in that context meant the katakana, surely), but it is an interpretation of the two-panel version I was mildly concerned about.

If we don't get enough consensus on the suggestion, perhaps we could go BUPKIS, since the current has to go.

I could agree with BUPKIS.

I don't think 11 is bad enough that we have to resort to BUPKIS.

Agreed; 11 may not be a gold star pic but it's certainly better than nothing at all.

11 is meh, but a useable meh. Just leave a note saying that we're cool with replacing it with something better in the future.

Damn, can't we get hold of a pic with a watch dog being treated to some piece of meat for distraction?

^ I suggested this in the last thread, but never got around to actually finding a good image.

Maybe a screenshot from the Mythbusters episode where they tried it?
