Iris Evans, better known to the world at large as Deep Freeze, looked out over her students assembled in Blackwood Academy's auditorium. So much potential in these young criminals. We'll be able to raise a lot of havoc this year. She cleared her throat.

"Welcome, one and all, to Blackwood Academy! I hope we all have an exciting year, and learn how to better harness our powers and use them for evil. Remember, classes begin tomorrow, and our first field excursion is Friday. And don't worry about that note; the faculty and I are already investigating the infiltration, and those responsible will be caught and punished. You are dismissed."

Jackie Martin, alias Jacqueline Hyde, was sitting in the back with a bored expression on her face. I get that every authority figure thinks they have to give speeches, but does she really believe anyone's listening? We don't have to listen to authority; that's why we're villains! When Iris dismissed the students, she gave a sigh of release and joined the throng heading for the halls.

Forward, boys! For God's sake, forward!

Auditorium

"Ah?"

Lina was in the middle of napping on another student when Iris finished her speech.

"Whuzzat..?"

The other student shoved her off, before standing up. Seeing as the assembly was over she stood up as well and stretched.

Uhh.... What did she say..? Yadda yadda evil, field excursion.. Uh oh, when did she say that was?

Lina never could pay attention during things like this, but knowing that date seemed somewhat important. She approaches a student at random. This student just so happens to be Jackie. "Uh, hey, when did she say that field excursion was? I was.... not paying attention."

Blackwood Auditorium

Adrian Cross was at the very back of the room listening to the Headmistress' speech. Occasionally his eyes would flicker here and there, scanning the audience for people he had heard of or recognised.

"...infiltration, and those responsible will be caught and punished. You are dismissed"

...spies are unknown and potentially dangerous. To be captured alive and brought to superiors. Adrian thought with a grimace. Great. This is sounding more like one of those missions.

As the other students began leaving the auditorium, he opted for a less crowded route, and used his shadow-travel ability to appear in a shaded area of the hall, close to to where Lina and Jackie were.

Lucas, like Jackie, had been seated near the back. That way, he could observe the other students. He was keeping an eye on the other students who were near the back. He was gonna make an educated guess and say that either they were loners, or they were also sizing up the others. Or they had just felt like sitting up there. While the principal was making her speech, half of Lucas' brain was listening to her, while the other half was seeing if he could spot anyone he knew. Well, he saw a girl who was sleeping get pushed off of another student's shoulder. She was cute, too.

Meanwhile, he was unsurprised by the Principal's speech. A bit laconic, but he doubted he would have cared to listen if she had given a very long one. It was regarding the note the Hero Academy had sent. Lucas wasn't worried. He was, like, the complete opposite of worried. He'd read stories like this before. They sent a note without actually sending anyone, and the whole school was supposed to tear itself apart accusing each other of being the infiltrator when there never was one to begin with.

As the principal finished his speech, the blond pulled his leather jacket over the black tank-top he wore. The jacket itself had lots of metal studs on the shoulders. Black platemail covered in huge thorns? That went out of style around the time of Middle Earth, and those huge spears would probably get caught on things all the time. But a black, studded leather jacket over a black tank-top that clung to his torso, showing off his toned chest? It said "Stay out of my way or I will stab you with the metal studs on my shoulders."

Lucas filed out of the auditorium, metal suitcase in hand. The sleeping girl from before was asking one of the girls near the back about the field excursion.

"Friday." Lucas said to her. His cold blue eyes looked at Lina, then Jackie...And then at Adrian, who had just teleported. Guy looked lonely. Lucas smiled at him, then spoke to Lina and Jackie.

"What d'you guys think about the plant?" Lucas asked.

"Plant? Like a fern?" Lina yawned.

.. Of course she knew what he actually meant. She just thought it'd be funnier this way. In truth, she wasn't particularly worried about the spy. If any hero was stupid enough to come here, they'd probably get lynched pretty quick.

Charles had been standing in the back of the room, more just waiting for the headmistress' speech to be over than actually listening to it. Looking around the room, he was trying to guess what kind of abilities the other students would have. After all they might have to fight one another and he didn't want to wind up as the opponent to someone who would be able to easily circumvent his power.
Then finally it was over and the students were dismissed.
Quietly Charles made his way through the crowd of other students, finally ending up near Lina, Jackie, Lucas and Adrian. It seemed as if many students were worried about the infiltration, but Charles didn't get why it was such a big deal. These spies were outnumbered by far and the teachers seemed to be capable. So the whole deal would probably over in a week or two, wouldn't it?

Adrian's gave a curt nod to Lucas, before giving his own opinion.

"For the spies to announce their intentions so blatantly, I believe they are either overconfident but dangerous, or that their egos simply eclipse their common sense." He responded in a low monotone.

Jackie looked at Lucas. "I'm not all that concerned, either way. If there are spies and saboteurs here, they're badly outnumbered. If they just left that note and bailed, well, I don't think anyone here is stupid enough to go making accusations without solid proof."

She cleared her throat a little. "I'm Jackie, by the way. Think we should all get to know each other a little bit."

Oh, right. She had been asleep.

"Plant as in a person. Who was planted in the school. Like a strangler fig, destroying it from within!" Lucas said to her. "Except I doubt that there actually is one. It sounds like a dumb prank to me." He looked over at Jackie. The girl was tiny. If he had to guess, he'd say she was maybe eleven. She'd make a good projectile weapon, and if she was an 11-year old, she was a very clever one.

"My name is Lucas. Dunno what my villain name is yet." Lucas said.

"I'm Lina~" She quickly looked the other students over.

Huh.. Okay, so we got a blonde, a redhead, and two brunettes (well, their hair is black buuut...) Isn't there a trope or something like this?

Dirk Van de Schim sat at the front of the assembly hall partly because it was the only row with enough leg room, partly so he could get ahead of the inevitable throngs as they left but mostly so he could avoid the fools refusing to pay attention at the back. He wore his usual attire – thick, grimy combat boots, simple jeans with a white wife-beater singlet under a burgundy and grey flannel shirt. However, unbeknown to most, a well-used notebook was also perched on his knee, dwarfed by the giant callused hand above it. Unlike many of the young prospective villains, he listened intently to the Headmistress. She was a powerful villain in her day and had lost little of her gravitas or menace now. More importantly, this Academy had rescued him from a lifetime behind bars and given him the means to revenge or, perhaps, finding his sister. Nevertheless, the news of the young heroic infiltrators was disconcerting if only in the sense that the heroes knew their location and the true purpose of this academy. Still, a cold grin emerged on Dirk’s lips as he scratched his beard thoughtfully – This year could be the most interesting yet. As the assembly finished he waited for the hall to clear and, when there was no one to see, he opened his notebook and wrote a few lines. Few knew he was literate let alone enjoyed the art of poetry, of philosophy and writing and that was the way he liked it.

He stood and tucked the article in the back of his jeans, striding out into the school and straight through the group discussing the infiltration. A younger, light haired punk in spiked leather blocked the way. Dirk pushed the blond haired one roughly out of his way – the push felt strong but his body language suggested such delicacy had required effort. A low grunt escaped his lips but did not stop as he strode away, apparently uninterested in pleasantries.

Ronnie Holbach listened to what was being said, all the while looking around for any cute girls. He listened in to some people talking about the planted spies, and decided to give his input.

He was seated one row from the back, and thus was overhearing some of what was going on.

"Well, personally, these spies are probably impulsive teenagers..." he realized what he was about to say about teenagers and mostly himself, so he decided to go another route.

"Well, whatever, y'know, they'll make a mistake sooner or later."

He was then surprised by a girl sitting next to him suddenly shouting and introducing herself - she looked officially dressed and had dark hair and green eyes, and her demeanor made Ronnie's ears hurt, "Like, OMG, these guys are like totally unbelievable! Can you honestly believe they're like making threats on like the first day! Totes unbelievable!"

Lucas saw Dirk coming. It would have been hard not to. The guy could give Bane a good run for his money. Lucas calmly stepped out of Dirk's way, not even acknowledging the larger boy's presence. It was less that he wanted to snub Dirk, and more just that it looked like he was in a hurry.

"It's nice to meet you. I'm going to go have a look at my dorm, maybe." He lifted his suitcase, and just barely opened it enough to put his hand in. He muttered "school map" under his breath, and when he withdrew his hand, he held a small pamphlet.

"Apparently there's an armory. I wonder if they'll let me check out some guns? I want to practice with them." He said. His intent was clear. Any of the others were welcome to join him.

((From now on, I shall be keeping a running tab of the contents of Lucas' suitcase in his signup.))

An Armoury? Adrian quirked an eyebrow. ...Why not? I need to get some more gear anyways.

"It would be a good chance to see what the school has to offer." He admitted, and moved to join Lucas

On the way to the armory, Lucas stopped at a vending machine.

"One sec." He said. He reached into his wallet, and took out a fiver. He then purchased three granola bars, putting them in his suitcases. Never knew when you would need some emergency rations. He figured the granola bars were probably the most economical in terms of how filling they were. After that, it took very little time for them to reach the armory. Lucas wasted no time perusing the stock of firearms.

"So what are you guys' powers?" Lucas asked, as he examined an assault rifle. Anyone who was knowledgeable about such things would notice he was observing very good trigger discipline. Before handling it, he double checked to make sure the safety was off and it wasn't loaded, and even as he held it, testing its weight, he was very careful not to point it at anything or anyone.

((Lucas recieved three granola bars. SU updated.))

"I'm not gonna tell you~ What if you're a spy?(lol)"

She strolls off to examine the more traditional weaponry, pulling a halberd off the wall and twirling it a couple times.

"Guess you're just gonna have to find out~"

Dirk continued to stride down the halls, satisfied that the new students hadn't given him major issue. He didn't mean to give such an antisocial first impression to the young students, it was just his way. In truth, they simply reminded him of his siblings which was why he buried any sympathy deep under a stony facade. Most called him only by his alias, Surtr - The name of a great Norse fire-giant said to herald the end of the world with his flaming sword. He had chosen it because his family had always joked that he was a jotunn and he often read tales on him in the prose and poetic eddas. The building barely contained his titanic form and made Dirk uncomfortable.

Dirk finally came to an external door, stepping into the sun and the fresh breeze with a breath of relief. "Ik heb je zo erg gemist..." He muttered low, resuming walking at a far more relaxed pace. He passed the armory, seeing the new students from before molesting its weapons but continuing on to the surrounding woodlands. Dirk's movements were careful as he weaved through the trees, stopping after some time and sitting down with his back the tree. A few birds flew above, too high to see their species but it made him smile in a manner almost kindly. When he closed his eyes he could pretend he was back at the family farm.

Seeing that noone was showing any interest in him, Charles simply decided to wander off in a random direction to explore the school. He didn't want to embarrass himself by being late for class just because he got lost on the premises after all.
A strange mix of feelings overcame the young student. On the one hand he was interested in getting to learn the ways of villainy and he couldn't wait to see the look on the face of the first guy trying to attack him, but on the other hand he was worried. Some of the other students could probably fly, manipulate the elements or somesuch, while his powers didn't really have any offensive potential at all. That might be a problem.
But...there was nothing he could do about it now. At least that's what Charles tried to calm himself with as he wandered down the hallway.

Adrian retrieved a a pair of butterfly swords, and went through a few stances, testing their weight and balance in his hands. Seemingly satisfied, he spun the blades once before returning them to their sheathes.

Lina's decision made the assassin inwardly nod in approval. It was a reasonable decision, despite her simply doing it for her own amusement.

"I'm from the Cross family." Adrian said, settling on giving Lucas an indirect answer before moving on to investigate the selection of sniper rifles.

Jackie walked off through the hallways, telekinetically lifting a small bag with her clothes in it as she did so. It was good practice. People made cracks about walking and chewing gum, but walking and using magic was a whole other kettle of fish.

She turned a corner, not looking where she was going, when she bumped into Charles. Her concentration broken, the bag fell to the floor, spilling some of its contents. "Oh! I am so sorry about that!" She bent over, picking up her belongings.

Lucas watched as Lina swung the halberd around, being careful to give her a wide berth.

"Yes, I'm a spy. My plan is to deduce the headmistress so that I can bring down the school." He said, the corners of his mouth just barely turned up in a slight smile. Lucas supposed it made sense the others would be evasive in regards to their powers. Even without the news of a saboteur, it was a villain school. Doubtless there was all sorts of treachery going on. It didn't matter much at this stage, anyhow. But wait...Adrian was a Cross?

"You're a Cross? Seriously?" Lucas asked, eyebrows raised as he put the gun now. He understood the basics of using firearms, but has never actually fought with one before, so he doubted an assault rifle would be a good choice. There were a few pistols, though. Those he figured he could use. He picked up a 9mm, with shiny gunmetal. He strode over to the firing range, loaded it, then turned off the safety. Shots rang out. He had managed to hit the target with every shot. No bullseyes, but the targets were moderately far away. Not bad for a beginner.

Lina wasn't familiar with the name Cross, but she figured they were supposed to be a big deal- judging by Lucas's reaction.

Meanwhile, she reshelves the halberd and moves on to the swords. If anyone's paying attention to her at this point, they'll notice she seems much more familiar with these. She pulls a katana off the wall and examines it, inspecting the blade and checking its balance.

Adrian adjusted the scope of a one of the rifles as he nodded an affirmative. "It would be hard to lie about that with my appearance." He remarked, noting his unusual eyes and skin colour; both traits unique to the Cross lineage. Adrian then pulled back the bolt to ensure the chamber was empty, and tested it by aiming it at the ground.

"You are a blade user?" He asked Lina, noting her ease with the weapon.
