Is it an adaptation of Welsh's book, "Porno", which brought back Renton and Begbie? Or a new thing entirely with just the main characters?

Thanks for that.
Hmm, nothing new there. Trainspotting itself was VERY loosely based on the original book.
So much so I actually nearly wet myself laughing at the dead baby crawling on the ceiling bit when I first saw it at the cinema. Or maybe that's because I was drunk as a skunk at the time. /Truefax.
Trailer is now out.
Track listing of the soundtrack:
The Prodigy remix Iggy Pop's 'Lust For Life', a track on the original Trainspotting OST, and Underworld appear with 'Slow Slippy', which we're guessing is a different version of their classic 'Born Slippy'.
Back in September, it was announced that the original soundtrack was coming out on orange vinyl, true to Trainspotting's colour theme.
It's good, I really enjoyed it, but there is literally no point in seeing it if you've not seen the first one.
Totally disagree.
Just seen it for myself, and unlike when I went to see the first film I was sober and I still fucking enjoyed it, man. All four of the main leads had their share of what are undoubtedly poignant scenes, especially (not even) Begbie with his kid. It doesn't help if you've read Porno, the book the film's supposedly based on as it has got nothing at all to do with the film other than Mark Renton coming back from the 'Dam.
I've created a page for it: T2Trainspotting. Be grateful toanyone who adds tropes, YMMV etc etc etc!
And can anyone figure out how to make the title read correctly???

Figured out the title bit :)

Wait. What. Robert Carlyle also played Begbie's father in that flashback set in Leith Central Station? Bloody hell. I never clocked that it was him.
Danny Boyle has confirmed a sequel to 90s classic Trainspotting:
"All the four main actors want to come back and do it," revealed Boyle, "now it is only a matter of getting all their schedules together, which is complicated by two of them doing American TV series."
Trainspotting screenwriter John Hodge has finished the script, which Boyle has described as "terrific".
The sequel will pick up the story 10 years on from the original film, and will be loosely based on Irvine Welsh's sequel to the Trainspotting novel, Porno.
