Yeah, Ares didn't start the war but he's actively intervening to stop it from ending. Not sure what's so complicated about that. It's actually the thing I like about the movie—they avoided giving the war a supernatural causus belli.

And the bulk of the war crimes, as we've been over more than a few times, were committed by the Central Powers. Partly because the Western Front is entirely on French and Belgian soil, partly because the German and Austro-Hungarian leaderships were far more paranoid and autocratic than any Entente power save Russia, partly because the Ottomans are on that side of the war and they're genocidal madmen.

What exactly has Brett Ratner done? I remember something about outing Ellen Page, but with all the recent crap that's going on I haven't heard anything else. I mean, that's a giant dick move on its own, but it also was a while ago.

He's made numerous sexist and homophobic statements, sexually assaulted people, and is just an all around creep in general.

It's not quite on the same level as Weinstein, but he's had a long history of harassment and bad behavior. Some of which was already well known, but after Weinstein nobody is tolerating that stuff anymore.

Ratner himself is not a producer on the DC films but his production company Rat Pac served a supporting role, meaning likely nothing on the creative end but handled things like location scouting, craft services, paycheck management, etc. Ratner has been unofficially fired anyway (announced a leave of absence, with it unlikely he will return), so I am a little confused about the ultimatum.

This certainly puts Roman Polanski appearing in Rush Hour 3 in an even more troubling new light.

I mean a surprising number of actors/actresses still defend Roman Polanski and/or appear in his movies. Same with Woody Allen.

Certain more "insular" institutions can be pretty tone-deaf at times. Hollywood is one such institution unfortunately.

Let me remind everyone that when Ratner was fired from producing the Oscars due to his homophobia, Eddie Murphy left alongside him as "protest" (and given Murphy's own history with homophobia, it's not surprising). Hollywood sticks by their creeps.

Celebrity or not, does anyone really want to piss off someone with IDF training? Part of Krav Maga is taking anything you can get, which includes kicks in the nads.

Makes sense, although it'll still have competition from Frozen 2 if I'm not mistaken.

Not really. Frozen didn't make over a billion dollars in theatres alone just by appealing to kids/young girls.
