What would be the next step of the worldbuilding if I may ask?

Next up would be classes and spells.

So far, I have warriors as playable and assassins as a role-caused class. I'm also thinking of Paladins.

I'm thinking of spells, still.

In favor of a Paladin class but how do we pull that off with harpies? When you're a flying species a Full-Plate armor made of Steel isn't exactly your friend.

Also I'd say we could include a Ranger class, in Medival times many nobles hunted, chances are that here some would do that to.

Remember, we aren't bound to stereotypes. Perhaps Harpy Paladins are leather or wool and are just aggressive priests?

I will add Rangers though.

Btw , since we seem to stick with the harpies now I wanted to ask if we will have weapons at all, as the anatomy we both seem to favor does not exactly give them useable hands. Maybe they could use their feathers as weapons? Strengthen them with steel maybe? What did you have in mind there?

[up] They will have weapons. They'll use their talons to hold weapons and fight.smile

Of course, they'll have to fly themselves off the ground to do so, but it's effective.

Hm, if there's going to be priests and paladins then we're going to need at least one religion.
Maybe we could have every participant design one deity or religion or something?

BUMP

My religion idea is basically sun Worship. The Harpies (or any other being) view the Sun as a Divine, eternal Fire Spirit that dances around the world. Priests and Paladins of this religion draw their energy from the Sun (So they'd be more like Solar Wizards) and either heal or attack with it. They think the center of the world is full of dark demons and that the Moon(s?) is where they came from and want to turn this planet into. Along with it comes 2 Spell ideas:

Solar Bliss: Call upon the power of the Sun to heal your character for 3 turns. Heals will be determined with a dice roll divided by half for 3 turns.

Solar Fury: Call upon the power of the Sun and throw it as an attack against an enemy. Deals 5 damage, plus damage from a dice roll divided by a half.

Looks good so far, how about:

Blind: Channel the light of the sun and direct it in the eys of your foe, blinding him and giving him a 1D20 Penality on his next 1D20/3+0,5 actions (I used the +0,5 to indicate that it is rounded normally neither always up nor always down)

Sun Cloak: Channel the light of the sun and create an orb of light around you giving each attack targetting you a 1D20 Chance to fail

Cleanse: Channel the light of the sun to cleanse you or one of your allies. Roll 1D20, if you roll is above 10 remove one negative condition from the spell-target

[up] I like Blind (Although we don't need to indicate a round up or down because I was always going to round it to the nearest whole number for the Spells). Sun Cloak is a bit redundant as there are at least 5 numbers that an attack can either miss or fail (Specifically, the numbers 1-5 will miss or fail). Also, for the purposes of this RP, I don't think it'd be a Good idea to use Cleanse, although I do enjoy it. It might make one role impossible if it enters combat. Hint Hint wink

Also, here's how I'm thinking the spell system will work: For the Melee Classes (So far Warrior, Ranger and Assassin), they'll have "Abilities" (AKA, Spells) that don't use Mana, but instead use Health. Meanwhile, Spell Casters (So far Paladin and I'm thinking either Wizards, Sorcerers or Mages) will have Spells that do use Mana, but you'll have a small amount of Mana and one spell will take most of it (Obviously, the Mana would come back, either slowly through combat or immediately out of combat). That way, people can't just constantly spam spells over and over again.

I don't know if this gets everything to complicated but I propose a exhaustion system aka Morrowind, that way everyone would have an exhaustion level, and when that level rises every action he does is (even) more likely to fail until the point where a hit (or success in general) is nigh impossible. That would not only hinder magic spamming but also protect from spamming normal attacks.

[up] Not familiar with Morrowind (I know it's an Elder Scrolls game), but I'll look into it. It might be a little too complicated for the game from the way it sounds, but let me just look at it and I'll think about it.

Basically you've got a (Normal hit or success rate) * (Your own stamina in %/100) (meaning the right part ranges from 1 (with full stamina) to 0 (with no stamina)) chance for success. I'm pretty sure this formula is wrong, though you should be able to see the basic logic behind it.

[up] Eh, could be neat, but I don't think I'm going to implement this one, at least on this campaign. Maybe the next campaign set in the world will have that.

Anyways, I think the official classes will be: Warrior, Ranger, Captain, Paladin and Wizard as Player-Classes (Classes you pick immediately), with Assassin, Bard and Necromancer as Role-Classes (Classes you are given with a specific Role), and Priest and Shaman as NPC-Classes (Classes that aren't playable, but will be present in the Campaign through NPC's).

I have most of the Paladin spells written down.

Which type of ranger are we talking about? The poisons, daggers and stealth ranger or the bows, arrows and tamed animals kind?

Considering we're all in a castle bows will rarely be used I guess, also I can't really imagine someone using a bow with his feet, so I guess we're going with the dagger one, though I'm not the GM so I can't say for sure.

Also: How many votes in favor of a harpy main race do we have at this point? From what I recall you wanted 4 to make it canon.

I'm really liking the Captain class now that I'm working on it. I'm essentially making it a duel class (Melee + Magic) that's focused on Aggressivity and Water magic.

I'll post some of his spells and abilities later today.

EDIT:

[up][up] and [up]: They will indeed be the bow kind. Harpies use Crossbows (Easier on their feet, but still requiring a lot of gymnastics to get and load the thing). They can be used in the Castle but only if there is a clear threat (Which there will be). Their talons will be dagger like.

Also, it's still only 2 votes.

Lol, I'm just imagine a harpy holding a crossbow in front of his head with his feet trying to aim that thing, god this is going to be hilarious. XD We need pictures of this.

I was actually thinking they're holding it under their bodies while they fly. Yes, they'd be so good they don't even aim!

But yeah, that's definitely funnier. I'd imagine they'd be on their backs if they need to aim. smile

They'd be like modern day snipers, only instead of lying on their stomaches they'll be lying on their backs. This is just bound to be funny.

That's definitely Harpy canon now; Their Rangers are either bad asses that don't aim or they lie on their backs to aim. Either way they're using their feet to shoot and load, and it's a spectacle to watch them do it.[lol]
