The Royal Party Crashers (Medieval Fantasy) - Interest/World Building

Witches! Like, women who were falsely accused and play on a would-be medieval kingdom's prejudices by being rebellious and whatnot. And some of them have y'know, actual magic.

Couldn't a lot of non human races be oppressed? Some more than others? Maybe a lot of them have reasons to kill the king, but the reason some don't know about the others because different races have different planning sessions.

Generally in favor but it shouldn't be all races, I think the theme 'humans rule all non humans' is used to often in such, plus the more slavery victims you have the less likely you will get a golden era and many followers I think. A nation build by slaves is rarely if ever seen as a good one. But again generally I'm in favor (especially since my char sheet is getting more likely through this, sorry but selfishness has to have a place in ones live to.)

Obviously one race (Which is leaning towards Humans from what I'm hearing) is going to have most, if not all, of the power, and then another race (Which I'm leaning to Harpies) is going to be treated as scum of the earth. However, these are supposed to be the Best King and Queen the Country has ever had...

... Which is why it's the perfect time for a bunch of Murderers, Thieves and Rebels to completely destroy the country in nearly one fell swoop!

But other then that one race (Which could be Harpies, could be any race), they are supposed to be kind, just and caring for their people. All of their people. Just because Mainly Humans(?) rule the Kingdom, doesn't mean the King and Queen don't like them or support them gaining, say, Merchant status in their Kingdom.

I do agree with you, which is kind of why I'm not so much in favor of Humans being on top, but so far it seems like everyone wants Humans.

We also could make it Centaurs on Top XD. Centaurs are my favourite race of all (seriously, Centaurs a WAY to underrated in fiction though I appreciate things like Manga.Centaur No Nayami and Dominions 4 which indeed incorporate them - though to be fair in both cases its easier to count which races are NOT present) though that would be very complicated to do so given their anatomy its unlikely they'll build castles.

Ahem, but anyway, I don't really mind either way.

I also wouldn't mind either way, though I have to beg you to include wolf-humans as a race, the char I have was originally intended for LARP and I did quite well with him, it would be nice seeing him in a RP where I don't have to take the hits personally (seriously, if you go in full plate like my 2nd char you don't give a damn if a newb forgets how to properly dampen an attack, but when you only have your clothing it can hurt pretty bad if you're on the receiving end of an improperly made attack).

... Spitballing here: We put Harpies on the top and Humans at the bottom. Harpies rule the Kingdom and Humans are the scum of the Earth (to this Kingdom). How does that sound?

Obviously, there is tension, between races and castes and all different groups within. It's just not as pronounced under this King's rule.

I'll take Wolfmen into consideration.

The Harpies on top thingy would be quite funny aswell. Humans would be enslaved because they haven't anything that would make them superior compared to other races.

Though I DO NOT want to be an armorsmith in this world, this is gotta be hell doing a correct armor for a harpy. Btw which anatomy do you favor?

Thinking about it, it could also be that the King + Queen want to abolish the whole 'One race is the scum of the earth thing' which of course would make nearly everyone angry and kill-hungry.

For the Harpies? I'm thinking Human Torsos and Heads, Bird legs (Including Talons), Feather for Hair, and really long, buff arms covered in large wings. Females would have plain colors and Males would be bright and colorful. Also, they'd still lay eggs. Either that, or I make them like the Skeksis.

You know, I really do like the idea of a Harpy kingdom. Most of the time, Harpies are Chaotic Neutral or Evil characters that try to kill. It'd be neat to play a Harpy Kingdom. I'm thinking Harpies on top might be canon.

I actually would like to make a suggestion for an inferior race: Goblins, Changelings and the humanoid uglies, like Trolls and such.

I feel like Harpies, if they should be on top should be Like Dark Crystal.

Actually, I've got a better idea at who's on top: The Cthulhumanoids. Mindflayers, obscenely powerful puppet masters.

Perhaps the King and Queen do want to end the Racism towards whatever race is at the Bottom, but I'd think it'd be funnier if they thought of every race as equal, except for the one at the bottom. I'm thinking they have a child, though (A Son is what I'm thinking). He might be the one who wants to end all racism, period.

Alright, so this is officially the next thing to focus on: Should Harpies be the main race for this game? Not the sole race, of course, but the Main Race, the one the King and Queen and most of the Nobles are.

EDIT: So far, I've got two votes in favor of this Harpy idea. I'm thinking 4 votes and I make it officially canon (I'm not counting myself).

Goblins where actually my original choice. EDIT: Hmmmm, interesting idea. Obviously they wouldn't be THE Mindflayers though (Eating Brain power makes them pretty unlikely to be enslaved).

Hm, again, I don't mind either way. I guess I'm abstaining on this one.

Imagine Goblins, Orcs and Trolls as basically the labor forces. Like the Industrial Revolution, Changelings can kind of be seen around the same lines as a mixed race kid around the time of the Civil war, ya know?

I'd like to add Not-Mindflayers to the top ranking, capable of obscenely strong magics. That could be why them and Harpies are on top. They are the elder ones who know things that mortals could not dream of, and magic that can combat the powers of a thousand storms.

My idea is that only one race is at the Bottom. Mixed kids of other races (Which may or may not be possible) wouldn't be frowned upon, at least not by the King and Queen themselves, so long as the Kid wasn't mixed with the Bottom Tier race (Whatever it is).

I do like Magical Octopus's though. I'll consider adding them to playable races.

EDIT: Also, for the purposes of this RP, I don't think mixing Lovecraftian Ideas or "Not-Cthulhu" would work well, at least for this situation. If this gets off the ground and we do other campaigns with this same world, then yes, we can add all the "Not-Cthulhu"s and "Not-Nyarlathotep"s we want. If we do add Squid people, they will not have any connection with any Elder Gods (At least for this Campaign).

Personally, I feel like the King not looking down on races and the kingdom as a whole not looking down at races aren't really the same thing. Like, poor folks hate "Fucking Greenskins." And I feel like Trolls, unless we're going by they're not all Dumb Muscles are only really good for working in factories, Orcs might be higher ranking, but Trolls and Goblins I feel should be at the bottom.

Oh, I completely understand. Yes, racism beyond the King and Queen would probably still be common, in Noble circles, Merchant circles and amongst the Common folk. EDIT: So Mixed Kids of these races would almost always be frowned upon, with several exceptions thanks to the example of the King and Queen. But as for "Tiering" them, we still need to determine all the races, and the only Races for sure at this point are Harpies and Humans, with things like Goblins, Octopus/Squid People, Wolfmen and others being "maybes". We'll focus on "Tiering" them later.

Also, "Factories" is a little too strong a word for this setting. If anything, they're "Mills" or "Smiths". Remember, this is Medieval.

Finally, sure, Octopus/Squid people could definitely be from a Foreign land meant to help the Nobles rule.

While I'm familiar with it, and I know of the Harpy girl from it, I don't actually know because I don't watch Anime or read Manga. I thought the Harpy from the Anime/Manga had a beak though? I dunno. Either way, I guess you'd be correct.

Look especially at her legs, I mean Living With Monster Girl is a Harem series so the design was probably not intended for this, but just look at her claws and tell me she couldn't slash you with those if she wanted to.
