So I've been toying with this idea for awhile about a superhero world about heroes whose powers are derived from various mythology. I was wondering if any of you could help me in deciding whether to make this story into a book series, or a comic universe. I'll answer questions you might have about the world and will give a description of some of my characters in other posts. Any help is very much appreciated.

Well, what do you have trouble drawing?

I'm not really a good artist at all. I do have a friend who would be willing to help me with the art aspect, but then again, we are going to different colleges in the fall that aren't exactly the closest to eachother.

Two questions occur to me:

First, do you think that the story would work better in a visual medium or a written one?

Second, if you want to work with your friend, is it feasible to work remotely—perhaps communicating via Skype (or some other service) and using something like DropBox to manage files?

Well my original intent was to make it an interconnecting universe with various characters having their own individual stories in addition to having stories about the main characters on a team (sort of like a magic version of the Avengers/JLA). But now I have noticed that many of my story arcs involve more of the team dynamic, rather than stories about the individual characters.

[up][up]As far as the skype thing, I don't know if he has a skype or not. Plus he's told me in the past that he doesn't really like drawing the same thing over and over again.

Unless your artist friend loves this project as much as you do, or you are ready to pay money, I wouldn't advise you rely on anybody but yourself to get this project done.

That said, you could at least start on a graphic novel script. Then any other artist you encounter can be given the script and invited (or bribed) to illustrate it.

And if you can't get an artist, you can still use the script as a super detailed outline for a prose version of the same story, like making a novelization of a movie.

Cool cool. I might just try to do that, although for now, this project might be on the back burner for awhile. I have decided that I will try to complete another story that I started writing, since I have a knack for getting distracted and then forgetting about it. But now I want to know your guys' opinion on the world itself to see if it holds any promise.
