What is it, exactly? I'm a bit new to the troper community (probably have been here for less than a year) so please bear with me.

There are two different watchlists that tropers can use, one for the forums and one for the wiki itself. Since I'm not 100% sure which one you mean, I'll explain both.

The forum watchlist is used to keep track of threads with topics you're interested in. When in a thread (like this one), there's an "add thread to watchlist" button both at the top and bottom of the page. If you click it, the thread will be "watched". Your watchlist will show you which watched threads have been posted in since you last looked at them.

The wiki watchlist is a bit more technical, but does the same basic thing for wiki pages. This lets you see who last edited a wiki page you have "watched" and what date they made the edit. You add wiki pages to your wiki watchlist from each page itself. Doing so also adds the discussion page (if something has been posted there) for the corresponding wiki page, allowing you to check in to see if people are talking about problems with that page. Assuming that it's a page for a work, "watching" the page will also notify you if someone uses the review feature to add a new review of the work in question.

I think that about covers it.
