Troper Reverie: The TV Tropes RPG

This is, in the most literal sense you can get as of now on TV Tropes, a role-playing game. Basically, it's sort of a variation of We, The Tropers, Are Stuck On A Spaceship, as in, the tropers are stuck in an RPG. The only real difference is that we're on a continuing journey, always moving. Anyway, it's freeform, so shameless hopping is allowed.

RULES:

1. Please be kind to the other players, because we will NOT tolerate dicks or trolls.

2. No OP gameplay. Fairness keeps the game from bouncing in all the wrong directions.

3. We tolerate randomness, but this isn't a YouTube Poop, so limit the randomness.

4. If you create a hostile NPC, then you decide whether it gets damaged or dodges attacks. This brings us to...

5. No autohits or ghosting. Autohits being, if it's not your NPC, then leave the NPC master to decide whether it hits or misses. Speaking of which, do the same for yourself. Ghosting is the inversion, YOU ignoring enemy attacks, so avoid that.

6. Don't take control of the other players' characters unless you have their permission.

Now, let me explain the simple battle system. You can attack, use magic, use an item, or run, like in Pokémon. Right now, you can only attack and run, until you go to a shop and buy magic and items. Right now, you can only attack with your body and whatever youj come across. The only thing is that you should remember what attacks, magic and items you have overtime, so write that down in Notepad or something.

Oh, and I highly encourage contributions to the plot and to the world you are in. It breathes life into the RP, and that's why it's an RP. If you have an idea, go ahead, give it your best shot. I also highly encourage you to PM me if there are any questions or concerns you may have. Also, to make sure I don't accidentally interfere, PM me in advance if you have an idea so I can lay off and avoid retconning it.

In the small town of Mabase, 16-year old Mark Simmons was sleeping soundly in a small bed in a middle-class home. He woke up to unfamiliar surroundings, because this wasn't the New Jersey house he was used to.

"Where the hell am I?" Mark asked himself.

He ran out the door, down the stairs, and out the front door to find himself in a completely different town than usual.

"So this is what Final Fantasy looks like from a sprite's perspective."

Mark walked around the town, with everybody staring at him, because his blue hoodie, headphones, blue Anime Hair and jeans were...strange, to them, to say the least.

"Funny, since most RPG characters gravity-defying hair." he thought.

"I wonder if there's anyone else that teleported here, as well?" he mumbled.

Coincidentally, another adventurer had wandered into town. He wore two asymmetric shoulder pieces over his longcoat, and both of his hands were clearly armored. Some pieces of metal plating were strapped to his legs, and he carried a spear-like weapon called a glaive with him. His white hair, though short, was just long enough to blow a bit in the wind.

"Huh. I guess the Immersion Factor finally went over the top."

He saw Mark, and recognized him as a player character.

"Ah, so another wanderer has found his way into this village!"

"The Stick has sentimental value. It's like an enormous, hideous teddy bear we can kill things with." -rikalous

A new player arrives he is about 5'6 and is wearing a fox mask and village clothing. "What up the names YOLO."

What is a man? A miserable pile of secrets, but enough talk have at you!

That last world was surprisingly easy to get out of...but this world doesn't seem to be any closer to home. Well, okay, it was like home, but after a long time of being in world like his own, he started to notice more of the little things. Like...what the heck is up with everyone's hair? Red, pink, either platinum blonde or shining silver (he really can't tell)...though, that green haired chick looks nice. Well, nice for a human.

"Hello," he calls out to anyone willing to listen. The source of the voice? Well...he's a kobold in a mage's outfit, complete with the traditional hat, oh, and a bell tied near the tip.

"Well, now I've seen everything. A Classical Mage Kobold, eh? Welcome to..."

He looks at the sign, unable to read it because the texture is still loading in.

"... Innsmouth? Odd..."

"The Stick has sentimental value. It's like an enormous, hideous teddy bear we can kill things with." -rikalous

"Oh, a...human."

He sighs. Well, he thought, what did you expect? It's not like he hates humans; it's just that he's seen too much of them. Having a human greet him everything he jumped from one world to another was almost a universal constant for him.

"So, what's your name?"

"Omega Stormwings. Although, "Omega" will do just fine. And you would be?"

"The Stick has sentimental value. It's like an enormous, hideous teddy bear we can kill things with." -rikalous

"Anolis Carineus. Pleased to meet you."

He looks down at the ground, noticing how oddly flat the road below him is.

"I don't think the people here are that good at making roads. Seems too smooth to be natural, don't you think?"

"What does a guy in a fox mask get no respect? Nice to meet you Anolis Omega."

Anolis jumps a little at Yolo's sentence, but he then eases up, getting the bell on his hat out from in front of his face, and says to him, "Well, jeesh, you didn't really make yourself known, kid."

"I know i am a ninja stealth is my friend."

"I can...I can see that."

"Yeah you can I am so stealthy I could hide right now and you would never find me."

Anolis raises a brow at Yolo's boastful comment.

"No worries, then. I've got a spell that could destroy this whole town if I wanted to. Perhaps I'll find you then." He finishes his quip with an un-smile.

He mumbles "cheater."

"Hey. I've learned a lot of things in my travels, and one of them is that there's no such thing as cheating. If the opportunity is there, you take it, and if you're someone like me, you abuse it."

"Yeah well you should learn to be more laid back."

Anolis starts to chuckle, which slowly turns into a hearty laugh. Finally, after getting his bearings straight, he replies, "Yea. I can't really afford to be laidback."

"Why?"

"I'll tell you later. Right now, I need grub."

He heads into the nearby inn, only for everyone inside to stop what they're doing and stare at him once he enters.

He follows "Hey everybody YOLO is back!" They start cheering.

"Wait, what the heck?!"

His face scrunches up with confusion as he stirs in his mind how this moment exactly came to be. What the heck did he do to garner such a following? And if he's a ninja, why the heck is he making such a spectacle of himself?

"I'm...I'm with him, just so you all know." Some of them are still staring at Anolis, especially some of the children there.
