It's actually free on PS 4 this month if you have a PS+ subscription, so get it while it's hot. I did and it's soooo much fun. Like said, it's very simple to pick up, with a short tutorial that teaches you the basics, but I get the feeling there's a lot of nice tricks that skilled players can pull off.
I should probably check out the advanced tutorials actually, see what that has to teach me.
Another useful thing for new players is that you can lock-on to the ball. So if you don't get the hang of things you won't get lost in the middle of chaotic cars crashing against eachother.
I really live this game, it encourages coordination between players and thinking outside the box.
I learned you can lock on to the ball in the tutorial, and that's the only way I play now. I'd probably never be able to find the ball otherwise :P
I haven't truly coordinated with other players yet, but I do things like, if all the other players are on the ball and it's heading towards the opponent's goal, try to position myself to shoot if the ball comes my way, rather than just get in amongst it and cause a mess. I've seen the opponents score when everyone is one spot and the ball gets knocked towards our goal and no-one is in a position to stop it.
I'm probably gonna get this, looks fun as hell and like 3 guys I know on Steam have been obsessing over it lately. Surprised it took THIS long for a thread to be totally honest.
I don't exactly understand why there isn't a PS Triple considering it's an Unreal Engine 3 game (and were not talking some next gen boundry pushing shit) but, eh whatever I have a PC that can run it ok-ish anyways. Does it play better on KB+M or controller cause if it's better on controller I'll just get another USB 360 controller cause my last one broke.

I was considering starting a thread when I didn't find one at first, but here we are :P
Is there any kind of logic to unlocking items, paint jobs in particular? I'd really like some more for my Paladin.
It seems that you always unlock one random item per game. Every game. Win or lose.
The developers are also trying to find a decent way of punishing quitters on Ranked Matches, Unranked will remain fine.

That's what I thought.
Has anyone else noticed a lack of autobalancing between matches? I have and it's annoying me a bit.
dead devotionThe thing is that Rookie, Semi-Pro, Pro are just your Profile Ranks. You can rank up just by playing with bots, so it doesn't affect anything. When you play Ranked match, you have a different Rank. You can see points when you have a cursor on the selected game mode.
No, I mean that between games, the members of the team your on and the opposing team do not change. They're static.
dead devotionWell, that only matters if your teammates suck :P And I'm not sure I've had a game where every player has stayed on anyway, so it usually gets changed around for me.
"that only matters if your teammates suck"
That's literally the point I'm making. And most games I'm on, most of the roster remains the same from one game to the next.
Even if one was winning, where's the fun in a shutout? When in an online game one team is destroying another, and there is no team randomization to make up for it, they will continue to be destroyed. And that's negligent game design.

dead devotionDoes anyone know if the different car types affect your speed, durability, weight, etc. in any way? My cousin said that he feels that he performed a bit differently than before after he changed his car, but since there are no stats to be shown I'm not so sure about that.
That aside, this is a pretty cool game. I do hope they either eventually add some mod support on PC or give it some more updates, because although it is fun, I can't imagine the playerbase lasting for too long if there isn't more to do.
I'm not sure any car has an advantage other than length, height, and width.
dead devotionI never even thought about the actual size of the car mattering though that makes sense. But yeah, as far as I know, they all go just as fast and handle the same and so on.
I also hope they add more stuff. Nothing springs to mind, but I'm sure there are other game modes that could be done, and I'd like to see some actual variation in the pitches too. I was talking about it with a friend and we think it'd be cool to have a pitch with different areas at different heights, and ramps and half-pipes and some with traps or something.
New upcoming map and the devs are planning to add more stuff based on feedback.

Anyone else been having connection problems with the game recently? I've only been able to connect with the servers maybe one in five times out of recent attempts, and this evening I only managed to get one matched played before I was apparently disconnected and unable to get back into another game.
Can't say that I have. I haven't had any issues at all since my first week.
It's improved over the last couple of days, but it still seems to take a little longer than it used to to connect or find other players when you first try.
hums the back to the future theme
" I did the right thing, didn't I? It all worked out in the end." "In the end? Nothing ends, Adrian. Nothing ever ends."
Steam link, and they loved it
Rocket League is a wacky physics based game with jumping cars and run up walls to score a goal! The game has been in Beta for a while and was well received on release. As stupid as it sounds, the concept is pure genius and well executed.
Surprisingly, I found the controls really simple and responsive, with freedom of control that allows you to do some neat tricks. Even a newbie can do something dangerous. It also has split-screen co-op along with online. The single player mode is cool but the multiplayer is where you will stick around.
The game is also avaliable on PS 4, but not on Xbox One as far as we know.
