Page typing (and the page help system) was moved to a box that also included some extra information. Some people took affront to this box, so it was removed

No, Google started misreading the dates on the box and junking up the site rankings.
Also, a lot of people misuse page types (especially with regards to indexing). Hence no hurry at reinstating the button.

How do you view/change a page type under the redesign? How Indexing Works still mentions the old method, which doesn't seem to work anymore...
