Anyone who has ever played the X-COM series (generally) has in one way or another gained an attachment to their custom made characters, and are quite affected in one way or another when said characters get stronger, injured, killed etc.
This certain fanfiction made by vesmolol is an ongoing After-Action Report series that continues as the aforementioned Beaglerush Live and Impossible campaign goes on. (currently at 69 chapters as of July 6, 2015). It has a large Cast of Snowflakes that have their own individual personalities and backstories, and character arcs for some and even character pairings in canon and among the fanbase.
