Hum. I don't think that is a good reason for putting medium-specific images on the main article.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanI think it's a good idea to put up any image on the main page if none of the subpages have an image.
Check out my fanfiction!Normally I would agree, but this (and any of the other "no pic" pages that may be subpaged) is an exceptional circumstance.
18 works for main.

^ Those colours are more eye-pleasing than 18, so I'll switch my vote to that.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"I think 31 is well known enough to be seen as amusing rather than prurient so I'm switching my vote to it too.
Absent-minded professor and Neverwinter Nights DMEasy on the "well-known"; before the wiki I was completely ignorant of Asterix. However, that's a good option...maybe "For want of a lute, the party was saved!" as the caption?
Done.

Yes. Not sure why it would be prurient, though.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard Feynman^^ Potholed to Suckiness Is Painful, yea for that caption.
You've got roaming bands of armed, aggressive, tyrannical plumbers coming to your door, saying "Use our service, or else!"Don't think it's necessarily better than 18, but it's not worse either.
Check out my fanfiction! As far as aesthetics go, I personally would prefer 31. It's not really any better or worse in terms of showing the trope.
I like the suggested caption in 34.
Absent-minded professor and Neverwinter Nights DMI prefer #31 as it's more colorful and has (some) humor.
Anyone else for 31 (+34)?
31 + 34 is up and tagged on the main page and the subpages have been tagged as "no pic"; I'll update the IP criteria info shortly. Locking up.
Main page. Given that this has been a "no pic" trope for a long time now, I think we can make an exception to the "pics go on subpages" guideline in this case - put it on the main page and have a "no pics - see the main page for a depiction" notice on the subpages.
